Wolverine TV: Breaking down four Michigan commits after season openers
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland made his way to Jacksonville and Charlotte over the weekend and saw four Michigan commits — Top 100 quarterback Jadyn Davis, On300 linebacker Jaden Smith, three-star wide receiver Channing Goodwin and three-star offensive lineman Jake Guarnera — in their senior season openers.
Holland breaks down how they all performed in the video above.
Thoughts on Davis
Davis had a big stat line on Saturday night, passing for 456 yards and five touchdowns en route to leading Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day to a 42-35 win over Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern.
Here is what Holland had to say after seeing Davis.
“He can dink and dunk and occasionally hit the deep ball,” Holland said. “That’s all you need from Jadyn Davis. You just need him to be accurate short-intermediate and occasionally hit the deep ball. When he arrives at Michigan, he’ll have a stronger run game and a better offensive line. I think Jadyn Davis’ playing style, while not JJ McCarthy-esque, can have a lot of success at Michigan. He doesn’t need to be a spectacular gamebreaking five-star. He just needs to be Jadyn Davis.”
Davis committed to Michigan in the spring over offers from North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee and others.
At 6-foot, 195 pounds, Davis is ranked as the No. 7 quarterback and No. 79 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of North Carolina this cycle.
