5-star Oregon commit Dallas Wilson is sold on Florida’s player development
Although he has been committed to Oregon for 16 months, 5-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson is receiving attention like he’s still on the market.
The Tampa (Fla.) Bay Technical star, however, is planning to take several official visits; in fact, he currently has five dates locked into the calendar, including one with the Florida Gators.
Wilson will be returning to the Swamp on June 14, while UCF (May 31), Miami (June 7), Oregon (June 21) and Florida State (Nov. 30) are part of the itinerary as well.
For now though, the 6-foot-3 pass catcher is happily committed to the Ducks.
“I am pretty locked in with Oregon,” Wilson told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It is a great school. The coaches want nothing but the best for me, but I have to take these visits and make sure of things.”
Dallas Wilson sees a path to early playing time at Florida
Wilson last visited the Gators on April 9. That was on a Tuesday and for one of the final spring practices. He also visited last September and for the 2023 Orange and Blue Game.
Familiarity with the SEC program is already quite high, but Wilson is intrigued by several other aspects of the program. That includes the recent success from Ricky Pearsall and continued growth from fellow Tampa native Eugene Wilson III.
If the Florida Gators want to come out on top though, a major impression will be needed during his OV.
“The Florida coaches could develop me,” Wilson told Simmons. “I see a chance to play early and I like the receiver room and coaches at Florida. I had a good time the last time I was there.”
Eugene is a home away from home
Although the Gators and other programs check plenty of boxes, Oregon is maintaining a strong lead. Much of that is due to the hospitality from Dan Lanning down to the support staff.
“When I am out there, there is always a vibe,” Wilson said. “I got to hang out with Junior Adams, the receivers and it is like a family. I just fit in perfectly out there. The whole staff makes me feel like I am already a part of the team. I love it over there.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Wilson is the No. 26 prospect and No. 5 wide receiver in the 2025 class. He is also the No. 4-ranked rising senior in Florida.
