5 2025 recruits Miami needs to host for game visits this fall

5 2025 recruits Miami needs to host for game visits this fall

Game day recruiting visits are just around the corner with Miami’s season opener against Miami (Ohio) coming up, and there’s already a list of elite recruits the Hurricanes need to get to campus.

Here are five 2025 recruits Miami needs to bring to Hard Rock for a game day visit this fall.

Armondo Blount | No. 4 overall prospect | Five-star Plus+ DL | Miami (Fla.) Central | 6-foot-3.5, 250 pounds
+++ Blount has received the same priority recruit treatment as the top prospects on Miami’s 2024 recruiting board despite being a 2025 prospect. Florida is listed as the early favorite in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with Miami in second, but the Hurricanes are already throwing the kitchen sink at the elite local prospect arguably talented enough to be one of the top recruits in the 2024 class if he were to reclassify. Miami managed to squeeze Blount down for a last-second unofficial visit to Coral Gables the final day before the July dead period. He’s by far the most obvious of Miami’s 2025 must-land recruits and needs to be hosted for multiple game visits this fall.

DJ Pickett | No. 8 overall prospect | 5-star S | Zephyrhills (Fla.) | 6-foot-3, 170 pounds
+++ Pickett has been a major target for programs including Florida, Georgia, Florida State and Michigan, all of whom he has taken unofficial visits to in 2023. And given the intensity the Gators have recruited him with, the attention he’s received from Georgia and the love he’s felt for other programs, Miami will need to bring him to campus for a game day visit this fall to maintain its place at the table. He took an unofficial visit to Miami July 29, but other programs haven’t let up in their recruiting efforts.

Zayden Walker | No. 9 overall prospect | 5-star EDGE | Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County | 6-foot-1.5, 225 pounds
+++ Miami has quietly become a team to watch for Walker, who has now visited Coral Gables twice including for the Hurricanes’ end-of-July recruiting barbecue last month. Miami has also aggressively pursued Walker, who has been complementary of the Canes and hopes to return for a game day visit this fall after making two trips to campus earlier this year. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Alabama and Auburn are among other programs on his radar early.

Caleb Cunningham | No. 12 overall prospect | 4-star WR | Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County | 6-foot-3, 185 pounds
+++ Cunningham’s interest in the Canes may be an objective surprise as a Mississippi product, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. Cunningham has been impressed by Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and receivers coach Kevin Beard, along with what the staff has told him about the hopes for offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson’s offense, and he hasn’t shut the door on the Canes.

Owen Strebig | No. 73 overall prospect | 4-star OL | Waukesha (Wisc.) Catholic Memorial | 6-foot-7, 295 pounds
+++ Strebig visited Miami for the first time during the last week of July and immediately placed the Hurricanes in his tier of top teams along with Florida, Notre Dame, USC and Michigan. Strebig has tremendous respect for Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and has the Canes firmly on his radar as fall approaches. A game visit could solidify Miami’s position
