4-star RB Byron Louis recaps first game day visit with the Miami Hurricanes: “The U’s time is now”

For Plantation (Fla,) American Heritage four-star 2025 running back Byron Louis, this past weekend marked his first college football game as the Miami Hurricanes throttled Texas A&M 48-33, and it won’t be one he’ll forget anytime soon.

“It was my first college game, and it was a blessing to watch those guys handle business,” Louis told CaneSport. “Especially the ones I know locally like Rueben Bain, Darryl Porter, and Kam Kinchens. All those guys just came out here and handled business.”

Heading into the matchup, Louis, who is the No. 208 overall prospect and No. 18 running back in his class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, had a handful of things he was hoping to see.

“It actually exceeded my expectations,” Louis said. “They’re playing at an NFL stadium, and the fact that they’re able to pack the stands was crazy. The support they have from down south was just amazing.”

Following the matchup, Louis headed back to the Miami locker room, where he celebrated with the team and staff.

“Everyone was happy and really nice, from the coaches to the players,” Louis said. “All they were saying is that you just have to give them a little bit of time, and their time is now, which is all that it was.”’  

According to Louis, last Saturday’s win was a testament to what Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff have been preaching about since they arrived in Coral Gables. 

“It just shows that Coach Cristobal is a man of his word,” Louis said. “Everything that he has said he would do is happening. He said give him a year or two, and he’s going to turn it around. The coaches that are coaching under him and with him all said the same thing, and it’s happening. The U’s time is now.”

It seems like Miami has set the bar pretty high for a game-day visit for Louis after hosting him for his first college game ever. Alongside his parents, Miami put their best foot forward, and it seems to have worked, as Louis raved about his experience following the contest. At the moment, the Hurricanes are favored to land Louis according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, and if things continue to progress in Miami’s favor, it will be hard to put a team ahead of the Hurricanes.
