2025 RB commit recaps A-Day visit: “It was great energy.”
Montgomery (Ala.) Carver High School running back Anthony Rogers made his way back to Alabama this past weekend for the second time in 2024.
Rogers, who previously attended the program’s Feb. 3 junior day, was in Bryant-Denny Stadium for A-Day on Saturday. Several other 2025 commitments were in attendance, as well as some of Bama’s top targets in this recruiting cycle.
The atmosphere and the game itself were well-received by Alabama’s longest-tenured commitment.
“It went well,” Rogers told BamaOnLine. “I liked the run game during the scrimmage. I saw Justice [Haynes] do his thing with limited carries. Jamarion Miller ran the ball pretty good. Richard Young ran hard. And the linemen blocked well.
“It was great energy,” Rogers continued. “Bama always brings the fans, so that’s nothing new, for real.”
Miller led the way running the ball with 83 yards on eight attempts and a pair of touchdowns. All in all, Rogers came away impressed by how the offensive scheme looked in the spring game.
“It looked good,” Rogers said of the offense. “Looked like they’re going to be putting up a lot of points this year. I liked how they used the running backs. Mainly in this game, they were running them between the tackles. But I know they like to use them in the passing game as well.
“I like it,” Rogers added. “From the spring game, I liked how they ran their offense. I’m just ready to see how they do this season.”
Rogers has known of Robert Gillespie‘s coaching style and tactics since his freshman year of high school, when he camped at Bama.
With this trip being his first of the spring, however, it allowed him to see how the new staff members went about their business.
“I visited before that, so I saw them and met them. But it was nice. I’m learning them well,” Rogers said of the new coaches. “I like the coaching style. Like I said, it was a good offensive scheme that they ran.”
Rogers does not currently have another visit scheduled to The Capstone. He intends on officially visiting Alabama at some point, though he’s not sure when that will be.
Anthony Rogers talks commitment status, other schools in pursuit
On a weekly basis, it’s primarily position coach Robert Gillespie who Rogers is in communication with from Alabama.
The two once again caught up this past weekend, with Gillespie delivering the following message to Rogers.
“He’s just letting me know to keep grinding and be the best,” Rogers said of Gillespie’s message to him. “Said he’s going to keep grinding and be the best. He’s just ready to coach me. It means a lot. Like I said, he was one of the first coaches that started recruiting me.”

Rogers also spent time around fellow Montgomery products, including redshirt sophomore Khurtiss Perry.
“I spoke with my guys James [Smith], [Qua] Russaw, and KP,” Rogers said. “It was fun. We just chatted it up a little bit and ate food. I’m proud of them. I’m proud of the hard work they’ve been putting in. They seem like they like it, and they’re just doing a good job of grinding and staying focused.”
As for his recruitment in general, Rogers also took visits to Auburn and Georgia in the spring. He has no additional visits scheduled, but says both of those schools might receive official visits from him.
The Bulldogs and Tigers, alongside Ohio State, are the ones pushing the hardest for him at this time.
Rogers provided an update on his commitment status with Alabama and the approach he has in his recruitment.
“I’m still committed. Just checking schools out and making sure I’m making the right decision,” Rogers said. “You just get it once, so you’ve got to check everything out. See what other programs have to offer just to make sure you’re making the right choice.”
