Zion Kearney Excited About Sooners QBs

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Oklahoma’s most recent commitment is Missouri City (Texas) Ft. Bend Hightower On3 Industry top 100 wide receiver Zion Kearney. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound pass-catcher picked the Sooners back in late April and caught up with SCOOPHD about his decision to be a Sooner.

Kearney is the second commitment so far for new wide receiver hire Emmett Jones who arrived in Norman just over four months ago.

The big receiver talked about his relationship with Jones and how it only added to some strong feelings about the Sooners.

“I can’t really say something sticks out, you can be not just a player and a coach. I can talk to him about different things, he talks to me like a regular person it’s not just ‘hey, how you doing athlete?’,” Kearney laughed. “Also, I like that he has been from high school to college. He has worked his way up and so I know he knows what he is teaching me, telling me.”

Kearney is currently ranked as the No. 10 wide receiver in the country and No. 15 player in the Lone Star State according to On3.com. And with his lofty ranking he joined the Sooners shortly after Oklahoma picked up another wide receiver commitment, from Franklinton, La. standout Kelly Daniels.

The talented receiver is a big-bodied vertical threat that seems to be a near ideal fit for Jeff Lebby‘s downfield passing scheme. That talent has seen him pick up offers from the likes of Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon, and Michigan State amongst many others.
