Zach Edey caps crazy sequence with tip-in to force overtime in NBA debut

Memphis Grizzlies first-round pick and former Purdue Boilermakers star big man Zach Edey just made arguably the best play of the 2024 NBA Summer League thus far.

With the Grizzlies trailing the Utah Jazz 90-87, wing Jake Laravia was fouled and sent to the line with 0.8 remaining in regulation. Laravia would make the first free throw and need to miss the second one to give Memphis the opportunity to score and send the game to overtime. He did just that.

Laravia’s second free throw attempt bounced out successfully, and flying in for the tipping from the left side of the paint was none other than Edey. You can check out the former Boilermakers star’s tip in the basket, which ultimately sent the game into overtime.

As mentioned above, Edey’s tipping forced overtime in the second game of the Salt Lake City summer league despite leaving some time on the clock. Utah was left with 0.2 ticks remaining, and unfortunately, they could not match Memphis’s magic.
