Wyatt Gilmore discusses Iowa visit

Class of 2024 defensive end Wyatt Gilmore had a chance to make his first visit to Iowa City this past weekend. For the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Minnesota native, it was a good opportunity to see the Hawkeyes at work in spring practice and get a better for the program.

“It went great,” Gilmore told HawkeyeReport.com. “One of the biggest takeaways was the fact that all of their defensive linemen are so versatile and play all over the line.”

Leaving Iowa City, Gilmore said the Hawkeyes made a good first impression and he plans to continue to build on his relationship with the coaches.

“It was my first visit and they definitely impressed,” said Gilmore. “The coaching staff is amazing and they have one of the best defenses in the country.”

An impressive athlete with a 4.70 forty and a 35″ vertical, Gilmore is looking over a long list of offers that includes Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon, Miami, Missouri, Kansas State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Purdue, and Iowa State, among others.

Up next on the schedule for the three-star prospect are trips to Kansas, Kansas State, and Nebraska this spring, which will be followed by official visits as he targets a decision by this summer.

“I’m going to take officials in June and then commit in mid-July,” Gilmore said.
