Alabama is high in the mix for some of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2025.<\/p>\n
In June, Bama played host to four of the five highest-rated rising juniors at the position, with one of those being Lucedale (Miss.) George County\u2019s Deuce Knight<\/a><\/strong>. Knight, the No. 3 quarterback in his class, visited Tuscaloosa on June 10 after netting an offer two days prior. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was my first time at Bama, so I had a great visit,\u201d Knight told BamaOnLine<\/strong> at last month\u2019s OT7 Finals event. \u201cMeeting with Coach Saban<\/a><\/strong> was the highlight. Hearing Coach Saban say that I could play football for them if I wanted to was crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n The southpaw also threw for Saban and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees<\/a><\/strong> for about 30-40 minutes on his visit. <\/p>\n \u201cI threw a little bit for Coach Rees and Coach Saban. Just letting Coach Saban see how I throw,\u201d Knight said. \u201cI showed just my ability to throw the ball down the field. Comebacks, posts, seam routes\u2026 throwing it at all different levels.\u201d<\/p>\n Discussions continue to be held regarding who is the best head coach in college football: Saban or Georgia\u2019s Kirby Smart<\/a><\/strong>. In Knight\u2019s opinion, however, that title still belongs to Saban.<\/p>\n \u201cRight now, he\u2019s the best coach in college football hands down,\u201d Knight said. \u201cGetting a chance to play for him means a lot to me. First off, a lot of kids don\u2019t even get the chance to play Division 1 ball. But for it to come from Nick Saban and Alabama, it\u2019s just wild. It\u2019s something everybody dreams of.\u201d<\/p>\n With that first trip to Bama in the books, Knight says he \u201cmight\u201d be at the program\u2019s cookout on July 29. <\/p>\n \u201cAlabama stands up around my top schools. They stand up there with Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Washington\u2026 they stand up there with those guys,\u201d Knight said. \u201cIf I get back on campus again, they might even have a chance to move higher.\u201d<\/p>\n Alabama is one of a handful of schools sticking out to Knight right now. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine<\/strong><\/a> currently tabs Ole Miss as the school most likely to land him (43.3 percent), but he does not currently have a leader.<\/p>\n When detailing his interest in the Tide, Knight kept coming back to their success on the field. <\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re a winning team,\u201d Knight said. \u201cHow the standard is, it\u2019s \u2018We have<\/em> to win.\u2019 Everywhere you walk around Bama, it\u2019s championships, posters, all that. First-round draft picks, they let you know they\u2019re winners. That\u2019s what I like about Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n It also doesn\u2019t hurt Alabama that each of their previous four starting quarterbacks are all set to be starters on Day One of the 2023 NFL season. <\/p>\n \u201cThe past three starting quarterbacks are all first-round quarterbacks,\u201d Knight said. \u201cThat means a lot because that\u2019s my goal. I want to go in the first round. First pick. That\u2019s where I want to get to. Bryce Young<\/a><\/strong> just went first overall. I want to win a national championship.
