{"id":9760,"date":"2023-07-06T16:35:03","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T21:35:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/?p=9760"},"modified":"2023-07-06T16:35:03","modified_gmt":"2023-07-06T21:35:03","slug":"lsu-rb-target-caden-durham-locks-in-a-decision-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/lsu-rb-target-caden-durham-locks-in-a-decision-date\/","title":{"rendered":"LSU RB target Caden Durham locks in a decision date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The LSU football staff has made Duncanville four-star <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/caden-durham-151494\/\">Caden Durham<\/a><\/strong> the top priority at running back in the 2024 class.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on The Jordy Culotta Show on Thursday, the Duncanville rising senior revealed he\u2019s locked in a college decision date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be committing game day against South Oak Cliff on August 25,\u201d Durham said.<\/p>\n<p>With a double-digit offer list, and plenty of programs still pushing for a potential commitment, where do things stand for one of the nation\u2019s best running back prospects?<\/p>\n<p>&lt;iframe width=&#8221;560&#8243; height=&#8221;315&#8243; src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7BkVBZ3WDHo?start=6024&#8243; title=&#8221;YouTube video player&#8221; frameborder=&#8221;0&#8243; allow=&#8221;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share&#8221; allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;<\/p>\n<h2>Teams jockeying for position with a decision date set<\/h2>\n<p>Durham made official visits to Texas A&amp;M, UTSA and Oklahoma in June, giving each team a closer look in the summer ahead of his senior season. <\/p>\n<p>Durham also set a tentative visit to Alabama for September 8, and plans are still in place for an LSU official visit at some point before December\u2019s Early Signing Period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going good right now,\u201d he said. \u201cI can\u2019t complain. I\u2019m just taking it day by day and week by week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(My recruitment) started this January, really. It was kind of late for me because I was a late-bloomer, but it really jumped off in January. I started football at six (years old). I just kept on playing. Then I moved to Duncanville my sophomore year, and it blew up from there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma is the program that\u2019s gotten Durham to campus the most over the past year, with LSU next up on that list. The Sooners currently hold the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) lead, followed by the the Tigers.<\/p>\n<h2>LSU has Durham\u2019s attention after making him priority No. 1<\/h2>\n<p>To this point, LSU has not pressed for any 2024 running backs beyond Durham. <\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s made three visits to campus since January, including a recent unofficial visit at the end of June \u2013 which came just before the NCAA Dead Period kicked in. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLSU, I like the environment and the people,\u201d he said. \u201cEverybody is always happy and showing love. I went to a breakfast place, and (fans) were talking to me like they knew me. Everyone was always showing love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The relationship he\u2019s built with LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson has been paramount in regards to the chances the Tigers have to reel in the Top 10 running back on the On3 Industry Rankings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoach Frank, that\u2019s my guy,\u201d he said. \u201cHe built the most trust in me. I can call him up for anything, and he\u2019s got me. He can walk me through anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the Sooners currently hold the On3 RPM lead, Durham said he\u2019s not counting out any team as he continues to mull over his decision ahead of his announcement in late-August.<\/p>\n<p>For the Tigers, there\u2019s still an open path to potentially landing Durham as the running back addition to the 2024 class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLSU, it\u2019s LSU,\u201d he said. \u201cCan\u2019t nothing go wrong going to LSU. The proof is in the pudding. You see it. If you go to LSU, you have a high chance to go to the NFL. If you want to go to the NFL, why not go to LSU?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Track-and-field will come into play for Durham<\/h2>\n<p>Durham is one of the fastest running backs in America, and he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athletic.net\/athlete\/19449717\/track-and-field\/high-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clocked personal bests<\/a> this spring with a 10.25 100-meter dash and a 21.12 200-meter dash.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s being courted by multiple track programs, including both LSU and Oklahoma. Durham\u2019s mother was a member of the Oklahoma track-and-field program during her time in Norman, while the LSU track staff has turned up the heat to assist with the football team\u2019s push.<\/p>\n<p>On Durham\u2019s visit in June, LSU\u2019s track-and-field staff met with the Top 100 prospect and laid out a path for how he could be a member of both the football and track teams in college.<\/p>\n<p>For Durham, the chance to continue sprinting at the college level is a key piece to his recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s mainly the 100,\u201d he said of plans to run track in college. \u201cI can do the 200, but I am mainly the 100.
