Just when you thought things couldn\u2019t get anymore interesting on the PGA Tour<\/a>, Tiger Woods enters the chat. The superstar golfer released a statement on Sunday related to leaked documents that surfaced over the weekend. <\/p>\n

Friday, Twitter accounts @Flushingitgolf<\/a> and @desertdufferllg<\/a> shared \u201cleaked documents\u201d from a player meeting hosted by PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan during the 2022 Travelers Championship. According to the report, Monahan and his team scripted out some of Woods\u2019 talking points as the league started its battle against LIV Golf.<\/p>\n

But on Sunday, Woods denied any knowledge of the talking points.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn response to the talking points memo released this weekend, I have never seen this document until today and I did not attend the players meeting for which it was prepared at the 2022 Travelers,\u201d Woods wrote<\/a> on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Per the released documents, Monahan prepared multiple talking points for Woods. One of the comments the Tour wanted Woods to make? <\/p>\n

\u201cFirst, do what I did: tell the Saudis to go f*** themselves,\u201d the document reads.<\/p>\n

The document also shows that the Tour wanted Woods to express strong support for Monahan, with another talking point reading, \u201cOur captain \u2014 in this scenario \u2014 is working his ass off.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the \u201822 Travelers, Monahan held a player meeting to discuss LIV defections. He and his team planned for Tiger to speak and even scripted his speech.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a rough few weeks for the PGA Tour, especially with the merger with LIV Golf. This recent leak and Woods\u2019 denying having knowledge of the document doesn\u2019t really help matters.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll see how the PGA Tour tries to manage the latest mess.<\/p>\n

Players already frustrated with PGA Tour <\/h2>\n

We\u2019ll go ahead and guess that Woods making a public announcement regarding his lack of knowledge about these \u201cprepared talking points\u201d won\u2019t sit too well with some of the players on the PGA Tour. This is a group that was previously frustrated with the league\u2019s lack of communication.<\/p>\n

Prior to the start of the 2023 U.S. Open, the PGA Tour agreed to a merger with LIV Golf. Most members in both leagues learned about the agreement via social media.<\/p>\n

Masters winner Jon Rahm said some of the players felt \u201cbetrayed<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gets to a point where you wanna have faith in management. I wanna have faith that this is the best case for us, but that\u2019s clearly not the consensus. I think the general feel is that a lot of people feel a bit of betrayal from management.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rahm also revealed how he \u2014 along with several other PGA Tour members \u2014 found out about the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was at home, taking care of the kids,\u201d he said. \u201cNo, I was just having my normal morning, making coffee and breakfast and basically texts just started flowing in. I thought my phone was gonna catch on fire at one point. \u2026 I think, at one point, I told (my wife) Kelley, \u2018I\u2019m just gonna throw my phone in a drawer and not look at it for the next four hours because I can\u2019t deal with it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

This latest development involving Woods certainly doesn\u2019t help matters for the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n
