The Penn State Blue-White game<\/a> and spring practice are both over. Head coach James Franklin\u2019s team held its 15th and final practice inside Beaver Stadium on Saturday. Sun broke through the clouds on a windy day, making it a mostly nice one for the fans on hand. And, since they were the only ones who could see the action since there was no television coverage, we put together a full recap for you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought overall, I\u2019m very happy with the progress I made this spring, both individually and as a collective unit on offense,\u201d Lions quarterback Drew Allar<\/a><\/strong> said. \u201cI\u2019ve been talking to the coaches the last couple of days and other players and it\u2019s going to be really good film for us to really dive deep into the summer, because we did a lot this, this cycle of spring ball, with installing and making tweaks and changes to some plays and just trying out and experimenting with new stuff. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor me personally, connecting with tight ends, receivers and running backs and really deep diving into routes and that sort of thing. I think we did a really good job of that throughout the spring cycle, meeting together, but now that we have all this time and not really preparing for practices right away, it would be nice to just sit back and watch film and just talk through different things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDiscussed\u00a0Friday in \u201cBuzzworthy,\u201d<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0the reality for Penn State at linebacker is one of uncertainty. Alluded to by Franklin as unexpected, the departure of\u00a0Ta\u2019Mere Robinson<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to the transfer portal has changed the numbers to a point that is now somewhat uncomfortable. And, to address that, Franklin went ahead and put out an open call to help solidify the situation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDom DeLuca<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Tony Rojas<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Keon Wylie<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday, and\u00a0Anthony Speca<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0give Penn State a quality rotation. A healthy\u00a0DaKaari Nelson<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and a good showing for\u00a0Kari Jackson<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday help. But, the issue is one Franklin didn\u2019t shy away from acknowledging.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fitz\u2019s first impressions<\/h2>\n

Just like after every Penn State game, BWI publisher Sean Fitz posted his first impressions of what he saw on the field Saturday during this four-quarter, 44-minute scrimmage that included half tag-off work and half live action. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn truth, Saturday could leave a nice lasting impression as spring games continue to be phased out in the college game,\u201d Fitz writes. \u201cThose that made the trip got a game day experience and were out the doors in under two hours. Early morning rain gave way to sunshine and wind, but all things considered, it was a very good turnout when making comparisons across the country this spring.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFor die-hards, though, it was about the football. Penn State\u2019s first public showing since the Orange Bowl turned out well. There are still many questions as the Nittany Lions take on the next phase of the offseason, but progress showed up in a few key areas on Saturday. There was sloppiness, which is par for the course in all spring games. Maybe it was the pace of play or something along those lines, but this one didn\u2019t seem like a chore to get through.\u201d<\/p>\n
