Thursday was the culmination of an incredible journey for Travis Hunter<\/a><\/strong> and his family. The former Colorado<\/a><\/strong> two-way star didn\u2019t have to wait long to hear his name called during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft<\/a><\/strong>, as the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a><\/strong> selected him with the No. 2 overall pick. <\/p>\n

The night was even more special for Hunter, as his father \u2014\u00a0Travis Hunter Sr.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 who wasn\u2019t able to attend when he accepted his Heisman Trophy, joined him in Green Bay. He was placed on a three-year period of probation and ordered to complete the first year under home confinement in December, but was granted permission<\/a>\u00a0by the courts to be there in-person for the moment.<\/p>\n

As the gravity of the situation sunk in for Hunter, he was able to enjoy a heartfelt video from his father. The NFL posted it on their social media account<\/a>, with the No. 2 overall pick\u2019s reaction included<\/a>. Check it out below. <\/p>\n

\u201cHey Trav. I wanted to congratulate you on the journey that you\u2019ve been on, and I always knew you would be here, because I\u2019ve never once seen you miss practice since you was four years old. I love that drive about you. Now, the big day done came, and I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m gonna cry or not, but you shocked me with this one, being the top five pick,\u201d Hunter Sr. stated<\/a>. \u201cBut I love you, and I\u2019m happy I get to spend this time with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, the video meant the world to Hunter. He took some time afterwards to elaborate on how happy he was to have his father in Green Bay for the special occasion, shining a light on how bright their future will be together in Jacksonville. <\/p>\n

\u201cOh, that was tough. It meant a lot to have my dad here. He wasn\u2019t able to come to the Heisman. So, you know, it\u2019s a blessing, you know, to be able to have him here, and see me, you know, walk the stage and, you know, do my thing, do my dance and have fun,\u201d Hunter responded<\/a>. \u201cYou know, it\u2019s always been my dream. Like I said, since four, I\u2019ve never missed a practice. I\u2019m always at practice. Always on time. You know, I\u2019m just excited to play football. So, seeing him you know make that video, it means a lot to me, but I\u2019ve still got more work to do. <\/p>\n

\u201cFrom him, a little message that he\u2019s just, you know, put across the board is you\u2019re going to be coached hard. I understand what hard coaching is, and where it gets you. That\u2019s a blessing. We\u2019ve got more to do, got more to prove and I know you\u2019re going to be at every game, so let\u2019s keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

One thing about Travis Hunter is he\u2019s going to work his tail off, and that\u2019s not going to change now that he\u2019s in the NFL. The Jaguars have a star on their hands, and that\u2019s why they traded multiple premium picks to get him. Travis Hunter Sr. is ready to see his son shine in Jacksonville. <\/p>\n
