ANN ARBOR, Mich. \u2014\u00a0Michigan Wolverines football<\/a><\/strong> graduate wide receiver Donaven McCulley<\/a><\/strong> and graduate offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi<\/a><\/strong> met with the media Wednesday afternoon at Schembechler Hall. El-Hadi discussed being a fifth-year senior and one of the leaders and oldest players in Michigan\u2019s offensive line room.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kinda crazy,\u201d El-Hadi said. \u201cBut yeah, I\u2019ve embraced it the last couple years, and it\u2019s good. Teaching the young kids that I went through this \u2014\u00a0we know how this all goes. We felt the same way. Just trying to give them pointers, tell them not to overthink things. If you overthink it, you\u2019re gonna mess up your mind even more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michigan\u2019s offense \u2014\u00a0including the offensive line \u2014\u00a0didn\u2019t live up to its standard last season. The Wolverines are intent on making it right this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year was unacceptable,\u201d El-Hadi said. \u201cToward the end of the season, we jelled together. We played the way that we were supposed to. But there\u2019s no more of that. We gotta play to our absolute best, and show the country that we\u2019re one of the best offensive lines.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCulley, meanwhile, is new to the Michigan program. He considered transferring to the Wolverines before the 2024 campaign but ran into an admissions snag and is now in Ann Arbor heading into 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust a new environment and new goals,\u201d McCulley said of joining Michigan. \u201cJust being able to take my game to the next level here and being a part of something great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wolverines\u2019 wide receivers didn\u2019t have much production last season, but McCulley wasn\u2019t deterred by that.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey kinda showed me what they wanted to do in the passing game, and bringing in [new offensive coordinator] Coach [Chip] Lindsey<\/a><\/strong> helped a lot. Bringing in quarterbacks and you\u2019ve got guys that could really throw the ball. I think that really helped me make the decision on coming here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsey brings a new offense to Michigan, but the mentality of being physical still remains. McCulley discussed the vision for the offense.<\/p>\n

\u201cFast paced,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna throw the ball down the field. And that\u2019s his vision. Of course we\u2019re gonna set the line of scrimmage and stuff like that with the run game, but I think he really wants to get the ball down the field a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n
