ESPN<\/em> is in \u201cserious talks\u201d with NFL Network<\/em> analyst Peter Schrager<\/strong>, per Michael McCarthy<\/strong> and Ryan Glasspiegel<\/strong> of Front Office Sports<\/em><\/a>. While the deal is not yet finalized, Schrager is likely to leave his perch as co-host of NFL Network<\/em>\u2019s\u00a0\u201cGood Morning Football\u201d\u00a0as well as Sunday pre-game appearances on FOX<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sources told McCarthy and Glasspiegel that Schrager would contribute across ESPN<\/em>\u2018s daily lineup, including \u201cGet Up,\u201d \u201cFirst Take\u201d and \u201cNFL Live.\u201d Schrager would also serve as a key contributor for ESPN<\/em>\u2018s coverage of the NFL Draft<\/a><\/strong> and Super Bowl week. It\u2019s uncertain if Schrager would bring his \u201cThe Season with Peter Schrager Podcast\u201d with him to ESPN<\/em>. If the deal gets done in time, Schrager could work on ABC<\/em>\/ESPN<\/em>\u2019s upcoming coverage of the 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

ESPN<\/em> is gearing up for its initial Super Bowl in February 2027, going on a hiring spree of NFL<\/a><\/strong> on-air talent. Over the past calendar year alone, ESPN<\/em> has notably hired Shannon Sharpe<\/strong>, Cam Newton<\/a><\/strong> and Jason McCourty<\/a><\/strong>. The latter previously served as co-host alongside Schrager on \u201cGood Morning Football.\u201d ESPN<\/em> recently hired director Artie Kempner<\/strong> away from FOX Sports<\/em> to serve as the new director of \u201cMonday Night Football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schrager, 42, is an original member of \u201cGood Morning Football,\u201d which launched Aug. 1, 2016. The show was originally based in New York but moved to NFL Network<\/em>\u2018s studios in Los Angeles this past July. <\/p>\n

Peter Schrager leaving NFL Network?<\/h2>\n

NFL Network<\/em> did not send its popular morning show to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. Schrager said on \u201cThe Main Event with Andrew Marchand<\/strong>\u00a0podcast<\/a>\u201d last month it was a \u201ccost-cutting\u201d decision from the NFL that \u201cflattened\u201d him. Schrager said he instead had to pay his way to the Super Bowl. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was humbled and flattened a little bit last year in what I still think is a questionable cost-cutting measure [by NFL Network<\/em>],\u201d Schrager said, via Awful Announcing<\/a><\/em>. \u201cWe were told a week or two in advance that\u00a0Good Morning Football\u00a0<\/em>from NFL Network was not going to be sent to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. And I said, \u2018Well, that\u2019s the first time I\u2019ve missed a Super Bowl in 18 years\u2026 We\u2019re an Emmy-winning show\u2026 We\u2019re going to have no presence?\u2019 \u2018No, you guys will do it from New York.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI was flattened,\u201d Schrager continued. \u201cI could tell you, I was crushed. It was as humbling and as sobering a piece of news- and I made my case. I said, \u2018Not only does it help our show, but it helps me for [the NFL] combine. Helps me for Draft.\u2019 \u2026 I left and I took a flight back and I said, \u2018I was in Vegas for 18 hours. And if I ever get the opportunity to go back to a Super Bowl, I\u2019m going to make the most of it, the entire experience.\u2019 And in that case, I learned you can\u2019t rely on any of these employers. You can\u2019t rely on some executive doing you a solid. You got to do your own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
