Stefon Diggs<\/a><\/strong> is set to sign with the New England Patriots, ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter reported<\/a>. His contract is for three years and up to $69 million.<\/p>\n

Diggs previously met with the Patriots<\/a><\/strong> this offseason as the franchise looked for a true No. 1 receiver to pair with quarterback Drake Maye<\/a><\/strong>. He\u2019s coming off a torn ACL suffered eight games into his tenure with the Houston Texans, but is now getting a big payday in New England.<\/p>\n

Prior to his injury, Diggs had 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns with the Texans. With the timing of the injury, Diggs might not be ready for Week 1 of the 2025 season. However, he could still provide the top-end receiver the Patriots need for Maye as he enters his second year.<\/p>\n

Diggs arrived in Houston via a trade from the Buffalo Bills, where he emerged as\u00a0Josh Allen\u2019s<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0top target. He made four Pro Bowls with the franchise and was a First Team All-Pro selection in 2020 when he led the league with 127 receptions and 1,535 receiving yards while also hauling in eight touchdowns.<\/p>\n

That began a run of four impressive seasons with the Bills. In 2021, Stefon Diggs set a new career-high with 10 touchdown catches, and he surpassed that a year later with 11 touchdown receptions while totaling 1,429 yards. All told, during his time in Buffalo, Diggs totaled 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Diggs\u2019 addition is part of the Patriots\u2019 quest for more playmakers around Maye, who showed flashes as a rookie out of\u00a0North Carolina<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in 2024. New England entered free agency with the most salary cap space in the league and has been active, making two big splashes on defense. Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman\u00a0Milton Williams<\/strong>\u00a0signed a four-year, $104 million contract and former Detroit Lions cornerback\u00a0Carlton Davis<\/strong>\u00a0inked a three-year, $54 million deal.<\/p>\n

As those signins came in, new head coach\u00a0Mike Vrabel<\/strong>\u00a0said the Patriots would continue to look for wide receiver help as free agency rolls along. While he didn\u2019t get into specifics, he noted the franchise\u2019s efforts to add more help outside.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about any of the players other than the ones that are right here and the ones that are currently on our football team,\u201d\u00a0Vrabel said<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ll continue to target. Mack Hollins will be in here tomorrow. He\u2019s a wide receiver. But we\u2019ll continue to look at the wide receiver position as it relates to free agency, explore every option with other teams, and potentially then we\u2019ll get to the point where we\u2019re looking at the draft. There\u2019s just a lot of time, and I know that everybody is like, it\u2019s over in free agency. It\u2019s never over.\u201d<\/p>\n
