It\u2019s often perceived that professional athletes are living a dream \u2014 and most of them are. But this past Father\u2019s Day, a handful of Pittsburgh Steelers players revealed that playing in the NFL<\/a> isn\u2019t all their life is about.<\/p>\n

In a short video posted by the Steelers\u2019 social media team<\/a>, a few players explained the best part about being a dad.<\/p>\n

\u201cWalking through the door, seeing my kids run up to me,\u201d said linebacker Elandon Roberts<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s a great feeling. Coming to work each day, just knowing that my kids depend on me to make sure I\u2019m moving in the right direction for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to give my kids life lessons,\u201d said cornerback Patrick Peterson<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cBeing able to teach them and help them not make the mistakes I made when I was their age.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think my favorite part about being a dad is telling my daughter, \u2018No,\u2019 at 11 o\u2019clock when she wants cookies,\u201d said offensive lineman Kendrick Green<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, as you can see, there are a lot of different reasons as to why the Steelers enjoy going home to see their kids. Although we have to wonder if Green has ever let his daughter have a cookie late at night \u2026 just once?!<\/p>\n

Speaking of Father\u2019s Day life lessons \u2026<\/h2>\n

Peterson said that his favorite part of being a father is teaching his children life lessons. That reminds us of a life lesson MLB<\/a> relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks attempted to teach his 3-year-old son. It didn\u2019t end well.<\/p>\n

Fairbanks was placed on the IL for a few days after suffering a black eye. But he didn\u2019t get the shiner by something done on a baseball field. No, instead he sustained the injury by dunking on his toddler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we were playing at our new house in the pool and I pulled the basketball hoop down onto my face after dunking on a 3-year-old,\u201d\u00a0Fairbanks told reporters<\/a>. \u201cYou know, try to teach him an early lesson in life, when you\u2019re in the paint you can\u2019t be caught unaware underneath the rim. Did that end up with me (having) a black eye? Yes.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife has been making fun of me about it, as has pretty much everybody here. So, it\u2019s been a good past five days or whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a few days of rest, Fairbanks was able to return to the Tampa Bay Rays bullpen. While he was trying to teach his son a lesson, maybe the pitcher was the one who learned something.<\/p>\n
