According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman and the Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal of up to $4.75 million.

The Dolphins signed Jones in 2021 as an undrafted free agent. He has played in 49 games with 30 starts in his four seasons in Miami. The majority of his starts came in 2024 as he started all 17 games on the offensive line.

Back in February, Jones spoke to David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and said he wanted to re-sign with the Dolphins. “Hopefully, I’m back here in Miami,” he said, “but I’m just taking it a day at a time. Just focusing on me training right now, enjoying the offseason with my family and not thinking too much. And when the time comes, just got to make the best decision for myself.”

Will Rob Jones replace Zack Martin on the Cowboys’ offensive line?

While Rob Jones started all 17 games for the Dolphins last year, he had his share of challenging moments. According to Pro Football Focus (per Dolphins Wire), Jones was credited with allowing 28 quarterback pressures. Additionally, the Dolphins’ run game struggled, as they were 28th in yards per rush attempt last year.

Jones played the left guard position for Miami. The Cowboys added him because they needed depth on the offensive line since Zack Martin announced his retirement. Jones will have a chance to compete for the starting role but has some big shoes to fill as Martin was named to the Pro Bowl nine times in his 11 seasons in Dallas.

“It was an absolute privilege to run out of the tunnel every Sunday and give this city everything I had,” Martin said during his retirement press conference last week. “I know many of you may have seen this decision coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Football has been a huge part of my life.

“It’s what I know. It’s what I love. It’s what has shaped me for as long as I can remember. I did not make this decision lightly. It comes after a long thought and prayer.
