As the race to the Atlantic 10<\/strong> tournament heats up, Dayton<\/a><\/strong> had a big star on hand for Tuesday\u2019s game against Saint Louis<\/a><\/strong>. Afterward, he celebrated with the Flyers.<\/p>\n

Comedian Dave Chappelle<\/strong> was courtside for Tuesday\u2019s matchup, which saw Dayton come away with the 75-67 victory. The win improved the Flyers to 11-6 in A-10 play, keeping them in the mix for a double bye in the conference tournament next week.<\/p>\n

But with Chappelle on hand for the matchup, Dayton had another reason to celebrate. He joined the Flyers postgame and congratulated them on the victory.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Chappelle made sure to find Dayton head coach Anthony Grant<\/a><\/strong> to give him a hug following the win. He also made it clear he plans to return to UD Arena at some point for a future game.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood game tonight, sir,\u201d Chappelle said<\/a>. \u201cBeautiful comeback, brother. An honor, bro. Great to see you, brother. Yes sir. I\u2019ll be back, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for why Dave Chappelle would be at an A-10 basketball game, the reason is simple. He has a house in Yellow Springs, located roughly 20 miles outside Dayton. That allowed him to be close to an important conference matchup \u2013 and it lived up to the billing.<\/p>\n

At one point in the first half, Saint Louis led by as many as 15 points before Dayton made it a 41-28 ballgame heading into halftime. The Flyers turned on the jets in the second half, though, shooting 50% from the field. They also hit 6-of-13 three-pointers and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line.<\/p>\n

Enoch Cheeks<\/strong> led the charge for Dayton with 17 points and nine rebounds while Nate Santos<\/strong> added 13 points. All told, five Flyers hit double figures.<\/p>\n

All the while, Saint Louis shot just 33% in the second half, including just 4-for-16 from downtown. The Billikens didn\u2019t get to the free throw line once in the final 20 minutes. Isaiah Swope<\/strong> had a game-high 28 points and Gibson Jimerson<\/strong> had 23. Robbie Avila<\/strong> was the next closest scorer with 10 points while adding four rebounds and three assists.<\/p>\n

The victory adds to the intrigue around the race to the A-10 Tournament, which starts next week in Washington, D.C. Dayton is one of four teams vying for the last two double-byes, along with Saint Louis, Loyola Chicago<\/a><\/strong> and St. Joseph\u2019s<\/a><\/strong>. With the loss, the Billikens will need some help to be one of the top four seeds in the bracket.<\/p>\n
