By way of those defeats, they no longer control their own destiny in terms of winning the ACC regular season title outright. If Notre Dame and NC State both win Sunday, they’ll share the championship. The Wolfpack have the head-to-head tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed at the conference tournament.

• Notre Dame’s leading scorer, Hannah Hidalgo, has only made 12 of her last 44 shot attempts. The Irish, for as talented as they are across the board, tend to go as Hidalgo goes. And, lately, she has not been going. Hidalgo’s best game since February was against these Cardinals, though, when she scored 34 points on 54.5 percent shooting a month ago. Perhaps she can channel that same sort of performance in this regular season finale.

• Notre Dame is averaging 85 points allowed per game during its two-game skid. The Irish had not allowed 80-plus points in any game this season until the last two.

What to know about Louisville

• At Louisville’s best, the Cardinals can take care of ranked teams like they did against Georgia Tech, Cal, Florida State and Duke. At their worst, they’re capable of losing to ranked teams by 30-plus like they did against UConn and NC State. There have been more competitive losses against ranked teams on the Cards’ ledger, too, like losing in overtime at Kentucky and by single digits to UCLA and Oklahoma. Louisville kept it close against Notre Dame the first time for a while, too, before the Irish pulled away and won by 18 on the road.

• Louisville doesn’t have a superstar-driven team. Three players average in double figures and any one of them can get 20 points on her best night, but rarely do they all go off in unison. The Cardinals are inconsistent in that way.

By the numbers

StatNotre DameLouisvilleScoring offense86.673.6Scoring margin24.46.3FG%49.344.03FG%40.332.23FG made/game7.86.2FT%77.271.8FT made/game12.412.3Rebounds44.036.3Rebound margin9.63.4Assists18.015.1Turnovers15.215.9Turnover margin2.93.3Assist/turnover ratio1.21.0Steals11.59.5Blocks5.61.9

The post What to know, how to watch No. 3 Notre Dame women’s basketball vs. Louisville appeared first on On3.

[1

post-84573","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
