NIL has taken over college football recruiting. Whether you agree or disagree with it, NIL isn\u2019t going anywhere any time soon.<\/p>\n
Top prospects like four-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic defensive back Jordan Thomas<\/a><\/strong> are taking full advantage of the new landscape \u2014 even before graduation.<\/p>\n Thomas inked his first NIL deal this week, signing with Carnivor, the world\u2019s No. 1 selling beef protein isolate.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a blessing,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cI heard about it when I went down to the Nike Next Ones event. It\u2019s a dream come true. I\u2019m lost for words. It\u2019s great to have an organization like this be one of my first supporters. I\u2019m excited to build this relationship. It\u2019s a pivotal move with the protein. It\u2019s going to keep me going and help me with my workouts.\u201d<\/p>\n The deal was facilitated by Latish Kinsler, a former NFL player who is now the President of Football Operations at LifeStyle Sports Agency.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s something that has been in the works for a couple of weeks,\u201d Kinsler said. \u201cWe wanted to find the perfect fit for Jordan to be a brand ambassador. Carnivor is something we feel like will help his performance. It\u2019s indicative of his work ethic. I think it\u2019s a perfect fit for Jordan NIL wise.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Muscle Meds website, Carnivor\u2019s beef protein isolate is even 350 percent more concentrated in anabolic muscle building aminos than a prime sirloin steak. It is also sugar-free, fat-free, lactose-free and cholesterol-free.<\/p>\n Thomas is a highly touted recruit, but he also takes pride in putting in extra work on his own time. When he\u2019s not with his teammates at powerhouse Bergen Catholic, he\u2019s getting in personal training in nearby Metuchen, New Jersey.<\/p>\n Thomas\u2019 drive and determination made him the ideal fit for Carnivor.<\/p>\n \u201cJust watching him on the field, your eyes go right to him,\u201d said Muscle Meds CEO Gerard Denti. \u201cHe\u2019s the fastest player on the field. What he does off the field really caught our eye. He\u2019s a really hard worker and an even nicer person.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s great seeing athletes representing your brand. We\u2019re all still learning about NIL. But we\u2019re really happy that Jordan is a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n While more deals are likely to come his way, Thomas isn\u2019t letting NIL take over his recruitment.<\/p>\n Thomas, who is high on programs like Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Texas A&M, is still looking for two big factors \u2014 relationships and development.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like it\u2019s important, but it\u2019s not my main focus,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cMy main focus is being developed in all aspects of life. I want genuine relationships. NIL is a factor, but I want to go somewhere where I can be pushed and challenged with like-minded individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n Kinsler, who is serving as Thomas\u2019 NIL agent and mentor, will be there to guide him along the way as he preps for a spring decision.<\/p>\n \u201cJust understanding rules, laws and things of that nature,\u201d Kinsler said. \u201cMaking sure no stone is left unturned in terms of finding out the nuances of things that change every day with NIL. Also making sure the opportunities he\u2019s receiving are fruitful.\u201d<\/p>\n Thomas won\u2019t be the last high school athlete to sign a deal this cycle. <\/p>\n NIL is here to stay.
