The Dallas Mavericks were eager to welcome Anthony Davis<\/a><\/strong> to the team Tuesday following a blockbuster trade. However, in their haste to do so, someone on the social media team made a mistake on the Instagram post. <\/p>\n

The post erroneously claimed Davis as a nine-time All-Star when the actual number is 10 if you count his nomination for this season, though the game has yet to occur. The big man was quick to correct it, commenting underneath the photo. <\/p>\n

\u201c***10X All-Star,\u201d he wrote alongside with three laughing emojis<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Davis was traded to Dallas from the Los Angeles Lakers for Luka Doncic on Saturday evening in a deal that took the league by storm. Both players are stars in their own right, and Dallas has stated that it made the move to improve its defense, also noting in the post that Davis is a five-time member of the NBA\u2019s All-Defense team. <\/p>\n

Davis, who is 31 years old, was in his sixth season with the Lakers and 13th overall as a pro. He is averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. <\/p>\n

The Mavericks are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, which is 3.5 games behidn the Lakers, who are in fifth place. The hope is that this trade will allow them to move up post All-Star break as they aim for a deep run into the playoffs. <\/p>\n

Davis will be a big part of that effort and overall seems excited to join his new team, even if they did make a slight mixup on his accolades. <\/p>\n

All told, Dallas traded Doncic,\u00a0Maxi Kleber<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Markieff Morris<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to the Los Angeles for\u00a0Davis,\u00a0Max Christie<\/a><\/strong>, and a 2029 first-round pick, ESPN\u2019s\u00a0Shams Charania<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0reported.\u00a0Utah received\u00a0Jalen Hood-Schifino<\/a><\/strong>, a 2025 second round pick via the LA Clippers, and a 2025 second round pick via the Mavericks.<\/p>\n

As the dust settles on the move,\u00a0NBA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0legend\u00a0Charles Barkley<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0joined ESPN\u2019s\u00a0Get Up<\/em>\u00a0on Monday morning to react to the move. He believes it boiled down to Dallas not trusting their star player, and deciding to dish him out a super-max contract, which would\u2019ve been worth $350 million with the Mavericks.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of us know what\u2019s happening behind the scenes with the Mavericks,\u201d Barkley stated. \u201cBut with this new CBA, they\u2019ve got to give him five years, $350 million. Let me repeat that, because I\u2019m like, \u2018Wow\u2019 \u2014 five years, $350 million. They know him better than anybody. They said, \u2018He\u2019s got something going on. He doesn\u2019t get in shape. He\u2019s not a great defender. Do we trust him?\u2019 And they\u2019re like, \u2018We don\u2019t trust him.\u2019 It\u2019s that plain. It\u2019s that simple.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s going to be a lot of noise going on around here. But the Mavericks, who know him better than anybody, the coaches and guys around there, the general manager says, \u2018We cannot give this guy five years, $350 million.\u2019 That\u2019s the bottom line, plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n
