North Carolina<\/a><\/strong> lost to Pittsburgh<\/a><\/strong> earlier this week, falling 73-65 on the road. The Panthers shot 20 free throws in the victory, to only nine for North Carolina, which played a critical role in the game.<\/p>\n

Tar Heels guard Elliot Cadeau<\/a><\/strong> fouled out during the contest and was the only North Carolina player to finish with more than two fouls.<\/p>\n

However, UNC coach Hubert Davis<\/a><\/strong> refused to put all of North Carolina\u2019s issues with fouling on Cadeau. Instead, he said that as a team North Carolina had issues with fouling too far away from the basket.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I think, I wouldn\u2019t characterize it in regards to a specific player,\u201d Hubert Davis said<\/a>. \u201cI would say our foul trouble\u2019s 90 feet away from the basket. Those types of fouls, they may seem little, but that\u2019s one towards the penalty. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so, that gets a team towards the penalty. So that\u2019s another thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Carolina entered the game against Pitt attempting nearly 23 free throws per game. But the Tar Heels were well below that number against the Panthers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lead the ACC in free throw attempts and free throws made,\u201d Davis said. \u201cAnd we lost the battle at the free throw line, in large part because Pittsburgh, in both halves, was able to get into the penalty because we had unnecessary fouls.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Carolina will need to correct that before playing rival Duke<\/a><\/strong> on Saturday if it is going to have any chance of pulling off the upset.<\/p>\n

Hubert Davis on keeping North Carolina confident amid skid: \u2018What choice do you have?\u2019<\/h2>\n

North Carolina<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has nothing to do besides keep at it this season, despite what\u2019s happened in its last four games. After\u00a0a 73-65 loss at<\/a>\u00a0Pittsburgh<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday,\u00a0Hubert Davis<\/a>\u00a0said keeping the Tar Heels upbeat is the easiest thing about what they\u2019ll have to do moving forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, that\u2019s easy. You know, that\u2019s easy,\u201d Davis said\u00a0postgame<\/a>. \u201cI do (think so). I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s simply so, though, because, as Davis said, UNC has no other option than to be positive right now and keep going into every game as such.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, what choice do you have? I mean, yeah. You do,\u201d Davis said. \u201cI really believe that there is no choice. The choice is to get back up and step forward and continue to competitively fight and prepare and continue to improve. I just don\u2019t even think there is a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n
