With 3:21 to go in Tuesday night\u2019s game against Pitt<\/a><\/strong>, North Carolina<\/a><\/strong> re-took a 65-64 lead on a layup from Elliot Cadeau<\/a><\/strong>. That turned out to be the Tar Heels\u2019 last lead \u2013 and Jay Williams<\/a><\/strong> had some poignant criticism for the Tar Heels in the final seconds.<\/p>\n

After a Seth Trimble<\/a><\/strong> foul, Ishmael Leggett<\/a><\/strong> went to the free throw line with a four-point Pitt lead. As he did, the Panthers huddled at center court. North Carolina, meanwhile, went to line up for the free throw. That didn\u2019t sit well with Williams.<\/p>\n

The ESPN analyst called the Tar Heels out for leadership problems and an apparent lack of effort as time ticked away. Pitt went on to seal the 73-65 victory, holding UNC scoreless for the final 2:35.<\/p>\n

They are all fragmented on the court,\u201d Williams said on the broadcast<\/a>. \u201cLook at Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is huddling in the middle of the court. It already looks as if \u2013 with 24.9 seconds left to go, North Carolina being down only four points \u2013 that the game feels over. None of them have huddled. None of them have talked to each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what Hubert Davis<\/a><\/strong> has been talking about, Kevin, about the lack of leadership on this team. Look, I know they\u2019re down five. You\u2019re never out of it until you\u2019re out of it. But you need to have communication about what you\u2019re doing next and about what you\u2019re going to run offensively, where you need to be defensively and there\u2019s no quit in your voice.\u201d<\/p>\n
