He cleared the air on Twitter in response to a fan\u2019s criticism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was sick,\u201d Jones <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StoneColdJones\/status\/1670651506805096451?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jones is set to make $19.5 million in 2023 but if the team does not get an extension worked out, he\u2019ll hit free agency next March when his contract runs out. He originally signed a deal for four years at $80 million. He signed after the Chiefs initially tried to place him on the franchise tag in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Both Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach have said they\u2019re in touch with Jones as he held out during minicamp. It\u2019s just a matter of getting a deal done, preferably before training camp starts next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChris wasn\u2019t here \u2014 kind of like last year, same type of deal,\u201d\u00a0Reid <a href=\"https:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2023\/06\/15\/andy-reid-brett-veach-chris-jones-are-communicating-so-thats-important\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told reporters.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThat\u2019s his choice. So, he chose not to be here. But I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll be at training camp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t even deal with it,\u201d Reid added. \u201cI let Brett and his group deal with it. If you\u2019re there, you\u2019re there. If you\u2019re not, we keep going. It\u2019s one of those deals. They\u2019ll work all that out. They\u2019re communicating, so that\u2019s important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last season, Jones had 15.5 sacks, with 44 tackles and 29 QB hits during the regular season.<\/p>\n<h2>Mahomes uses ring ceremony for clap back at Ja\u2019Marr Chase<\/h2>\n<p>Kansas City Chiefs quarterback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/patrick-mahomes-ii-95458\/\">Patrick Mahomes<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0had the perfect clap back for\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/jamarr-chase-50651\/\">Ja\u2019Marr Chase<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0after the Bengals receiver downplayed his resume. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/joe-burrow-62055\/\">Joe Burrow<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0made headlines when he said Patrick Mahomes was inarguably the best quarterback in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Reporters told Chase what Burrow said, to which he responded: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/patrick-mahomes-jamarr-chase-jose-burrow-best-player-nfl-qb-quarterback-bengals-chiefs\/\">Pat Who?<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Receiving his second Super Bowl ring this week, Mahomes tweeted a photo from the ring celebration with both rings on his hand a caption that read: \u201cThat\u2019s Who.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chase, who is now going on Year 3 with the Bengals, unequivocally stated that his quarterback is the best in the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe Burrow. Everybody knows that, yea. That\u2019s easy.
