Despite Rutgers<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 star freshman Kiyomi McMiller<\/a><\/strong> being benched against No. 4 USC<\/a><\/strong> on Sunday night and a social media post indicating that it was head coach Coquese Washington\u2019s<\/strong> decision, her dad, Mike, told On3 that she doesn\u2019t intend to leave the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cKiyomi\u2019s goal was to be at Rutgers and not ever transfer,\u201d McMiller told On3. \u201cThat is still the goal. The goal is to finish the job. At this moment, we\u2019re not looking to transfer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

McMiller has cemented herself as one of the top freshmen in the country, averaging 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game with the Scarlet Knights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-9 point guard from Burlington (NJ)<\/strong> Life Center Academy<\/a><\/strong> was a 5-star recruit, ranked No. 27 in the nation. She chose Rutgers over programs including UCF<\/a><\/strong>, Florida State<\/a><\/strong>, James Madison<\/a><\/strong>, Ole Miss<\/a><\/strong>, Penn State<\/a><\/strong> and Temple<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McMiller has already made waves on a national landscape, signing the first high school NIL deal with Jordan Brand<\/strong> in February of 2023. Since arriving at Rutgers, she\u2019s garnered plenty of attention for her flashy play style and had a highlight-reel basket earlier this season that went viral. According to Bart Torvik<\/strong>, McMiller ranks first in the Big Ten \u2013 and among all freshmen \u2013 in usage rate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rutgers is 8-7 this season and the Scarlet Knights\u2019 next game is at Minnesota<\/a><\/strong> this Wednesday at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
