Former South Carolina redshirt senior quarterback Robby Ashford<\/a><\/strong> will play his final season of eligibility at Wake Forest, On3 has confirmed. ESPN\u2019s Pete Thamel first reported the news on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust what Coach Dickert is building and his vision for the program and wanting to win now, and the opportunity to come in and be the guy,\u201d Ashford told ESPN of why he chose the Deamon Decons.<\/p>\n

Ashford, who transferred to the Gamecocks last offseason, spent one year in Columbia and played in eight games in 2024. He completed 23-of-32 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 227 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries. <\/p>\n

Serving as the backup to LaNorris Sellers, Ashford made his first start of the year in Sellers\u2019 absence against Akron on Sept. 21. In that game, he threw for 243 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 133 yards and a touchdown, leading the Gamecocks to a 50-7 win. <\/p>\n

He also spent time at Oregon and Auburn before joining South Carolina. He will have one year of eligibility remaining. <\/p>\n
