Fresh off a visit to South Carolina, Western Kentucky transfer portal offensive lineman Rodney Newsom Jr.<\/a><\/strong> has committed to the Gamecocks, giving them their second o-line addition of this portal cycle. On3\u2019s Pete Nakos reports that Newsom has signed.<\/p>\n

\u201cVisit was amazing,\u201d Newsom told GamecockCentral on Sunday. \u201cEnjoyed every moment of it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Newsom was receiving interest from other SEC programs but rather than take other visits decided to shut down his recruitment and commit to South Carolina.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-3, 303-pounder is ranked the No. 10 interior offensive lineman in the transfer portal. <\/p>\n

Newsom has two years of eligibility left. He previously spent time at Itawamba Community College and Memphis.<\/p>\n

The Eads, Tenn. native and Briarcrest Christian School graduate started 11 games for WKU this season with a PFF grade of 71.5.<\/p>\n

Newsom is the seventh commitment in the Gamecocks\u2019 transfer portal class, joining EDGE Jaylen Brown<\/a><\/strong> (Missouri), interior offensive lineman Nick Sharpe<\/a><\/strong> (Wake Forest), tight end Jordan Dingle<\/a><\/strong> (Kentucky), defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy<\/a><\/strong> (Texas A&M), LB Shawn Murphy, and QB Air Noland (OSU).<\/p>\n
