With Aaron Rodgers out of the picture, it’s Jordan Love‘s time to shine as the new starting quarterback for the Packers. While following in the footsteps of the legend might seem intimidating to most, the new gunslinger isn’t doing anything crazy this offseason.

In his first two NFL seasons, Love has played in just 10 games and thrown only 83 passes. Now, he’s tasked with leading an offense, immediately replacing a four-time league MVP.

Does that mean his approach will change this offseason? Not really.

“I don’t think it looks different at all,” Love said, when asked about his offseason outlook. “Same thing. Training, just getting back to it, getting in the book. Pretty much, like I said, continuing the progression I’ve made so far and keep it going.”

Love’s experience is minimal. In his 10 appearances, he’s started just one time and owns an 0-1 record, losing his lone contest to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. He’s completed 50-of-83 passes for 606 yards with as many touchdowns as interceptions (3).

But, in his two seasons with the Packers, Love did get to learn from one of the best in the league. Will that pay off for Green Bay as early as 2023?

Jordan Love talks about leadership role

Along with taking over an NFL offense, Love also takes on the challenge of embracing a leadership role with Green Bay. It’s just part of the duties for a quarterback in today’s league.

But Love says he’s doing his best in this new role, while still trying to learn from some of the veteran players in the locker room.

“It’s gone good. I don’t try to do too much about it,” he said. “It’s gonna take time to grow into that role, but I just keep trying to take it day by day. You know, just being a voice — guys come to me, ask questions. I’m still young, as well. So, I ask vets questions all the time. But, I don’t try to do too much in that role.”

Without question, Love has some enormous responsibilities on his plate heading into the 2023 season. But, perhaps that time on the sideline learning from Aaron Rodgers will pay off in a big way for the young Packers quarterback.

After all, that’s how Rodgers’ career began, learning behind Brett Favre. Maybe history will repeat itself in Green Bay.

The post Jordan Love says offseason is not different at all after becoming Packers starting QB appeared first on On3.

Times are changing in Green Bay.
