The Texas Longhorns<\/a><\/strong> have an opportunity in the SEC Championship Game to earn a win over the one team that beat them this season, the Georgia Bulldogs<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s a game that Longhorns defensive back Jahdae Barron<\/a><\/strong> says they don\u2019t fear even if they have respect for the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

The two teams first met this season in Austin on an October night and the Bulldogs jumped the Longhorns early, going into halftime with a 23-0 lead and going on to win 30-15. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not payback,\u201d Jahdae Barron said. \u201cWe have it in the back of our heads what they done to us. We have respect for them, but we don\u2019t fear them.\u201d<\/p>\n

A fifth-year senior Barron is one of the players who Texas turns to as a leader on the defensive side of the ball. In their first meeting, Barron had an excellent game, intercepting Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck<\/a><\/strong> two times. That was during a stretch where Beck was struggling with interceptions this season, though it\u2019s been three games since he\u2019s been picked off. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to go out there and just play our game, be enamored with us,\u201d Barron said. \u201cClean up things we messed up in the past, buying into us, being one. I think we started off good today on a Monday practice. We\u2019re just going to go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

This season, Jahdae Barron has 42 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and a sack this season. He also has four interceptions and eight passes defended on the season. That game against Georgia was still his most productive in coverage this season and he\u2019ll look to make that impact felt again. <\/p>\n

Since the loss to Georgia, Texas has won five straight games and the defense hasn\u2019t allowed 30 points in any other game this season. Meanwhile, Georgia has been a little less consistent as a team, suffering a loss to Ole Miss<\/a><\/strong> and surviving upset bids by Georgia Tech<\/a><\/strong> and Florida<\/a><\/strong> since they first played the Longhorns.<\/p>\n

Beyond just winning the SEC, there is plenty on the line in this rematch as it relates to the College Football Playoff<\/strong><\/a>. The winner will be all but assured of a first round bye, which will give them a chance to rest before beginning the Playoff. The loser is also, presumably, going to make the Playoff field but they won\u2019t get a bye. The best they can hope for is a home game. <\/p>\n
