Oklahoma<\/a><\/strong> is working hard to hold into its pledge from Lewisville<\/a><\/strong> (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Michael Fasusi<\/a><\/strong>. Texas<\/a><\/strong> and Texas A&M<\/a><\/strong> are trying to keep the nation\u2019s No. 13 prospect in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

It was the Sooners who won out for Fasusi on Aug. 21. Throughout the fall, his pledge has continued to look strong, though some buzz began to pick up with the Longhorns and Aggies earlier this month. <\/p>\n

Reports came out that Fasusi was headed to Austin for a game visit at Texas last weekend. He made that trip and is now expected in College Station this weekend when Texas A&M hosts the Longhorns. Both in-state programs continue to reach out to Fasusi daily.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy visit to Texas was great, and Texas did a great job this weekend,\u201d Fasusi told On3\u2019s Chad Simmons over the weekend. \u201cWhat made it great was seeing Coach (Steve Sarkisian<\/a><\/strong>) in the meetings, seeing his intensity and getting a good look at him on game day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fasusi is looking forward to getting another in-person peek at Mike Elko\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> program, too. The Aggies have a massive opportunity to make a splash with a win over Texas this weekend to close out the regular season. <\/p>\n

There remains confidence in Norman, however. While the 2024 season hasn\u2019t been ideal for the Sooners, they did just pick up their biggest win of the season \u2014 a convincing drubbing of Alabama. Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh<\/a><\/strong> and head coach Brent Venables<\/a><\/strong> both played a key role in landing the nation\u2019s No. 2 OT, and all of the reasons that Fasusi picked OU this summer still ring true three months later.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoomer Sooner. That is all I can say,\u201d Fasusi said. \u201cThat staff is great, I have some real relationships there and Boomer Sooner is how I am feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

The latest on Fasusi\u2019s recruitment with NSD eight days away<\/h2>\n

Fasusi said that his final decision will \u201ccome down to the same things it came down to when I committed.\u201d That bodes well for Oklahoma, but both Texas and A&M have brought plenty to the table down the stretch.<\/p>\n

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons and Oklahoma insider Josh McCuistion each give the latest on where things stand in the race for Fasusi as another massive visit awaits in the coming days:<\/p>\n

Simmons: <\/strong>\u201cFasusi still looks like he will be tough to flip from Oklahoma. As long as Bill Bedenaugh is there, the Sooners will be tough to beat. Texas has a lot that appeals to Fasusi. Texas A&M will get their shot this weekend, too. This will go into next week, and the calls will go until Fasusi signs, but Oklahoma is the school that the Longhorns and Aggies are still chasing.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCuistion: <\/strong>\u201cMichael Fasusi is a guy that for the longest time had seemed very locked in with Oklahoma. It wasn\u2019t just one thing, but it was the Sooners\u2019 track record of OL success, the S.O.U.L. program and just generally his family\u2019s methodology. So when he took the Texas visit, it seemed a departure from all we had known of his thought process. But since the Texas visit, things seemed good for Oklahoma and I get the impression that so long as Bill Bedenbaugh is retained in Norman \u2014 which seems a very likely scenario \u2014 the Sooners will be tough for him to turn away from.\u201d<\/p>\n
