On Tuesday afternoon, 57 fullbacks and 44 post-graduates participated in two separate Nebraska camps. <\/p>\n
Both camps were the first of their kind at NU. The Huskers launched its first-ever fullback camp under Matt Rhule<\/a> <\/strong>and a post-graduate camp featuring prospects from other four-year colleges, junior colleges, and recently graduated high school seniors. <\/p>\n RELATED \u2013 Steven Sipple: Texas high school coach offers prime example of Matt Rhule\u2019s elbow grease; and why Rhule\u2019s dorm idea makes sense in big picture<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n College coaches from UTEP, Rice, Nebraska-Kearney, Wayne State, Midland, Concordia, Peru State and Southwest Minnesota State were also present. <\/p>\n Former Nebraska running backs coach Ron Brown addressed the 57 fullbacks about the history of the fullback position. <\/p>\n \u201cIs there anyone around the country running a fullback camp? Thank you to Coach Rhule and Coach Satterfield,\u201d Brown told the campers. \u201cAll of the years I\u2019ve been here, we never thought of doing something like this.\u201d<\/p>\n Brown then went into the history of the position. He broke down names like Tony Davis<\/a><\/strong>, Rex Burkhead<\/a><\/strong>, Johnny Stanton<\/a><\/strong> and Dan Alexander, <\/a><\/strong>who came to NU at other positions and ended up playing fullback in the NFL. <\/p>\n Brown added that 12 of their last 27 top fullbacks made it into the NFL. He also highlighted the story of C.J. Zimmerer<\/a><\/strong> to the camp, who was a standout at the position despite being a type 1 diabetic. <\/p>\n
