It\u2019s no secret that Mississippi State has a big need on both sides of the line of scrimmage. On Sunday the Bulldogs took a positive step in that direction with the commitment of 2025 juco offensive tackle Saquon Miles.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hinds Community College product and On3 three-star prospect officially visited the Bulldogs this weekend. And before exiting that visit on Sunday, he committed to head coach Jeff Lebby and the Bulldogs. Miles is rated as the nation\u2019s No. 1 juco offensive tackle by On3 composite and the nation\u2019s No. 7 overall juco prospect by On3 rankings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told the coach after the photo shoot today and I rang the bell,\u201d Miles noted. \u201cIt feels good to shut down my recruiting process, especially when you are going to a school that\u2019s going to develop you. It feels great and it\u2019s great I\u2019m going to State.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miles was originally committed to Troy this fall before adding new offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, Miami and Colorado over the past few weeks. And through that process, the Bulldogs stood out to Miles and gave him a different vibe.<\/p>\n

\u201cState is just different to me,\u201d mentioned the 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Miles. \u201cThey just have that energy I like. One of their biggest issues right now is depth and they\u2019re losing guys up front. So it\u2019s time for me to come in and step up and take that spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miles is set to be a December graduate and has three years left to play two. The Greenville, Ala., native has taken in multiple game-day visits to State this year and enjoyed that atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been here for a couple of games this year already,\u201d Miles recalled. \u201cIt was the same and the same good atmosphere. Same good coaches and same energy. It just feels like a family here and now I\u2019m part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his weekend stay in Starkville, Miles also got some insight and program perspective from State\u2019s players. That included his player host and a current Bulldog offensive lineman.<\/p>\n

\u201cMalik Ellis was my host this weekend,\u201d remarked Miles. \u201cHe plays center and he was hurt this year so he missed the season. He was a cool guy and he introduced me to some of his friends. He talked good about State and everyone talks good about State. So I knew that had to mean something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miles played left tackle this past season for Hinds Community College and is expected to remain at tackle for the Bulldogs. However, which side of the line has yet to be determined.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Lebby and Coach Kennedy showed me a lot of love,\u201d Miles explained. \u201cThey made me feel at home and they showed my folks a lot of love, too. They want me at offensive tackle and it doesn\u2019t matter if it is left or right. I can play both. They\u2019re both good guys and I was around the other recruits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miles is the second offensive line commitment on Sunday for State, joining former Auburn commit and fellow Alabama native Spencer Dowland.<\/p>\n
