He’s expected to attempt to play. The plan is for him to go through warmups and see how he feels, as he’s been battling an injured wrist.

If Cook is able to go, it would be a huge boost in the Tigers’ chances of winning on the road. Cook, a three-year starter at Missouri, has been plagued by the injury bug this year, as he’s thrown for 1,575 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception.

[GamecockCentral: $1 for 7 days and 50% off first year]

He’s also beaten South Carolina twice in his career, throwing for one touchdown and rushing for two against the Gamecocks. Cook missed last week’s game against Oklahoma, as backup quarterback Drew Pyne started in his place. The former Notre Dame and Arizona State product completed 14-of-27 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

Pyne has completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 391 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions on the season.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback, South Carolina plans to be ready for Pyne or Cook. Earlier this week, head coach Shane Beamer said the game plan doesn’t really change with who’s under center for the Tigers.

“Not really. They do what they do and it’s line up, run outside zone with the running backs and it’s drop back and find ways to get the ball to (Luther) Burden and (Theo) Wease,” Beamer said. “And no matter who the quarterback is back there they’re going to do that.

“So other than just Cook being a little bit more experienced than Pyne, that would be the only thing. But Pyne is a guy that’s been around football for a while too now. So this isn’t his first rodeo. So no, it really doesn’t change anything.”

[See the Gamecock discussion on The Insiders Forum!]

No. 21 South Carolina will face No. 23 Missouri on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
