Ohio State<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s 20-13 win at Penn State<\/a><\/strong> in Week 10 seperated the Buckeyes as one of the top teams to consider in the College Football Playoff race.<\/p>\n

If they hadn\u2019t won, a two-loss Ohio State team would have been in limbo heading into the final stretch of regular season action. Instead, the Buckeyes answered for their lone blemish (32-31 loss to No. 1 Oregon<\/a><\/strong>) with one of the most impressive victories of the season in the eyes of College Football Playoff committee. Head coach Ryan Day recognized the importance of the win in his postgame press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s fair to say for a lot of we were at crossroads,\u00a0this was a big game for us,\u201d Day said postgame. \u201cWe didn\u2019t really want to publicly say that, but we said that\u00a0behind closed doors, and this is a big game for us, for a lot of reasons, and to get a top five\u00a0win like this on a row, in a tough environment, moving Donnie [Jackson] over the left tackle, and we felt like going\u00a0into this game, it was going to be a difficult environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew we had to win the rushing\u00a0yards, the turnover battle was going to be big, and then we\u2019ve got [explosive] plays. So we had to really focus on those things. But at the end of the day, we had to find a way to get us stop,\u00a0and get that extra first down or score. That\u2019s what it\u2019s going to come down to, so I think this is\u00a0going to build us moving forwards. I think for our guys to get this win, it\u2019s going to go a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Day said that there were multiple players this season who decided to come back \u2014 whether that be to use their extra COVID year or to wait an extra season and turn pro \u2014 and it was for moments like the win in Week 10. <\/p>\n

After falling to Oregon by a point several weeks ago, to get a road win against a rival with the stakes as high as they can be \u2014 it was a good feeling for Day and company.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlong the way, I think there was this conversation about the expectations, and all those types of\u00a0things, and I said to the team, \u2018There\u2019s no great accomplishments that happen without going through adversity,’\u201d Day continued. \u201cAnd that\u2019s the truth. You don\u2019t just walk into the season and think you\u2019re going to go reach your goals, it doesn\u2019t work,\u00a0it\u2019s just not the way life works, and so you get backed up against the wall, you got to respond,\u00a0that is life.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Day and the rest of the Buckeyes, their goals are right in front of them and it\u2019s on them to be able to capture it. <\/p>\n

He said the win against the Nittany Lions brought an excitement to the locker room that Day hasn\u2019t seen in a long time, and it\u2019s on the entire program to keep that momentum going strong as they move forward into what appears to be another berth to the College Football Playoff. <\/p>\n
