Now comes Georgia."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ole Miss offense has finally looked more like itself over its last six SEC quarters and wins over Oklahoma and Arkansas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The defense has been there all season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ole Miss leads the nation in sacks (41) and yards per rush allowed (2.28). The Rebels are first in tackles for loss (94). They\u2019re fifth in Red Zone defense, sixth in scoring defense, seventh in fumbles recovered and ninth in third-down defense.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve wanted all the smoke all season. It\u2019s why they didn\u2019t bat an eye when Ole Miss was stymied at the Arkansas goal line on the Rebels\u2019 first offensive possession last weekend. <\/p>\n<p>Trey Amos and Co. picked up their teammates in an eventual, 63-31 blowout of the rival Razorbacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a, \u2018So what? Now what?\u2019 We wanted to change the momentum,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/MxXAh5MlxOs?si=L1rC0H1BtSEMMDNl\">Amos said after practice on Tuesday<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cThe offense obviously couldn\u2019t get it done, but we had their back and made them pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The offense now appears to be coming along at the right time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No. 16 Ole Miss (7-2, 3-2 SEC) next hosts No. 2 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC. The Bulldogs are led offensively by quarterback Carson Beck and running back Trevor Etienne.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Beck has thrown multiple interceptions in four of his last five games. Amos leads Ole Miss in the category with three. Etienne is seventh in the SEC in rushing touchdowns and eighth in rushing yards per game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like we\u2019ve responded great, just starting in practice,\u201d Amos said of how the team\u2019s bounced back from the loss at LSU. \u201cGetting back on track after watching the film and just want to be better. We have a goal. Just keep on stacking these wins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re on a good track. We\u2019ve just got to keep our head down and keep working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8iVDNwyrYrA?si=f1tOXnMKKjTW7N0T\">RELATED: Sudu\u2019s Spirit Reunion: Ole Miss better equipped to get Georgia this time around<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"7bJ1DMe\"><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Amos is in his first and only season as a Rebel.\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>He transferred in from Alabama in the off-season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis season I\u2019ve improved,\u201d Amos said. \u201cBut still have more left on the table with the interception part. I can thank the defensive line. Those boys are always eating. I appreciate those guys putting me in a position to make plays.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Ole Miss defensive line has 17 sacks in its last two games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey make it a whole lot easier, the d-line getting to the QB,\u201d Amos said. \u201cWe\u2019ve just got to come up with the plays when the quarterback makes errors and make them pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amos, running back Domonique Thomas and tight end Dae\u2019Quan Wright all met the media on Tuesday.
