Kirby Smart<\/a><\/strong> was on the injury report this week! Well sort of since he seemed to be under the weather during his press conference this week.<\/p>\n

Smart said he felt fine but couldn\u2019t shake a cough. Heck, he said he\u2019s had it since the Texas<\/strong><\/a> game.<\/p>\n

Now that he said that, perhaps there is a theory!<\/p>\n

\u201cI just got a cough, I can\u2019t figure it out,\u201d Smart said.<\/a> \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to beat it since Texas. Ever since we got back, I feel fine. Just got a little throat deal, coughing bad, haven\u2019t been able to get rid of it. I don\u2019t feel bad, I just can\u2019t get over this cough.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen him do it so long,\u201d Smart said. \u201cI was telling somebody at practice the other day, \u2018You know this kid\u2019s been here since Covid year.\u2019 When I think about that, I still remember going to Arkansas to play and he was part of our program and see him go through so much, he\u2019s seen so much. He\u2019s had so many reps. And I\u2019ve just got a lot of trust and confidence in him. He\u2019s intelligent. He makes good decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smart didn\u2019t shy away from that, but noted his quarterback doesn\u2019t either. And he\u2019s confident that both Beck and the pieces around him on offense have the resilience to come back and play to the level Smart knows they\u2019re capable of.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had some throws that I know he wishes \u2014 he\u2019d take back,\u201d Smart said. \u201cAnd he admits that. But when it comes down to it, I still believe in this guy and believe in him and our system and the players around him. They\u2019ve got tremendous resilience. I don\u2019t know what the stats our, but it seems like every time we have to have a drive, we have a drive. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we had to have a drive against Auburn<\/a>, Mississippi State<\/a> and he comes up with a drive. He did that last year. And that was one of those moments, it didn\u2019t start out great that drive, we had lost our momentum. But he threw a strike on third down, that was a big play.\u201d<\/p>\n
