Halloween is Thursday, but Tennessee is extending spooky season for Kentucky\u2019s trip to Knoxville. The No. 7 Volunteers announced this morning they will wear their \u201cdark mode\u201d uniforms on Saturday night vs. the Cats, which also means it\u2019ll be a blackout at Neyland Stadium.<\/p>\n

You may recall that Tennessee wore the dark-mode uniforms vs. Kentucky two years ago. That game ended up being a house of horrors for the Cats. Will Levis threw three interceptions and Kentucky totaled just 205 yards of total offense in the 44-6 loss. This year\u2019s team is averaging just over 300 yards of total offense per game. Against a Tennessee defense ranked No. 3 in the country in opponent points (11.6) and yards per game (258.6), it could be another long night.<\/p>\n

Tennessee is 3-1 in the black jerseys under Josh Heupel, last wearing them vs. South Carolina in 2023, a 41-20 Tennessee win. Kentucky is 26-82-9 vs. Tennessee all-time, only winning in Knoxville just 11 times. The Vols have won three straight in the series, the Cats\u2019 last victory coming in Neyland in 2020.<\/p>\n

Tennessee opens as a double-digit favorite<\/h2>\n

The Cats will be a big underdog on Saturday night. The Vols opened as a 15.5-point favorite<\/a> yesterday, and the line hasn\u2019t moved; honestly, after watching Kentucky only score 10 points vs. Auburn on Saturday night, I\u2019m shocked the spread isn\u2019t bigger. The total is currently 44.5 points.<\/p>\n

While Kentucky dropped its third straight and fourth SEC game at home to Auburn, Tennessee was on a bye. The Vols are 6-1 this season, 3-1 in the SEC, the only loss coming at Arkansas on Oct. 5. The Volunteers are coming off back-to-back wins over Florida and Alabama. Still in playoff contention, they\u2019ll be looking to make a statement vs. the Cats.<\/p>\n

In case you missed it, kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network, marking the fourth week in a row the Cats will play in that spot. Fourth time\u2019s the charm? Nah?<\/p>\n
