Oregon<\/a><\/strong> defensive end Jordan Burch<\/a><\/strong> will not play against Purdue<\/a><\/strong> on Friday, according to the Ducks\u2019 availability report. Burch didn\u2019t play in Oregon\u2019s win over Ohio State<\/a><\/strong> last week, either. After the win over the Buckeyes, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning<\/a><\/strong> addressed Burch\u2019s absence but didn\u2019t reveal the details of his injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordan is certainly a loss for us,\u201d\u00a0Lanning said<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cYou don\u2019t replace a Jordan. He\u2019s been unbelievable this season. But in football, it\u2019s about the next man up. And I know Jordan\u2019s probably sitting at home just as proud of these guys being able to do next-man-up mentality.<\/p>\n

Oregon didn\u2019t expect to be without Burch against the Buckeyes. The senior standout reportedly suffered the lower body injury at practice two days before the game.<\/p>\n

Despite not playing on Saturday, Jordan Burch still boasts a team-high five sacks this season, along with 19 tackles, three pass deflections and a fumble recovery. Burch is on pace for a record year.<\/p>\n

In the 2023 campaign, Burch played in all 14 of the Ducks\u2019 games and made 13 starts. He finished the season with 34 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. For his efforts, he was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention by the league\u2019s coaches.<\/p>\n

Oregon will need its other defensive linemen to step up in Burch\u2019s absence on Friday as the Ducks square off against Purdue at 8 p.m. ET. The game will air live on FOX.<\/p>\n
