Roughly 24 hours before Lane Kiffin<\/a><\/strong> and No. 9 Ole Miss plays their biggest game of the season up to this point, the legitimacy of injuries has taken center stage.<\/p>\n

On Friday the Rebels released a statement regarding fake or \u201cfeigned\u201d injuries, a topic they have been the center of in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeigned injuries has become a notable topic in college football, and we realize our program has been part of that discussion,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cWe have been in communication with the National Coordinator for Football Officiating and provided relevant medical information for his review to answer questions about recent injuries. We have also updated the SEC office, and our head coach will communicate with our coaches and players to ensure we conduct ourselves properly and are compliant in this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

While not alone in this, Ole Miss has been in the national spotlight over the last couple games. Most notable moment was when Matt Jones seemingly went down after Jaxson Dart said something to him deep in the Rebels territory<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the Rebels 27-3 win over South Carolina last Saturday, head coach Shane Beamer mentioned the string of injuries throughout the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope they\u2019re OK,\u201d Beamer said. \u201cIt\u2019s fascinating to me how many injuries occur for them after the opposing offense makes a first down or has a big play. You go back and watch the Wake Forest game, it happens a lot. You watch the Kentucky game, it happens a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beamer was not alone as LSU head coach Brian Kelly addressed the topic of fake injuries this week, too. Kelly went the route of mentioning the Southeastern Conference<\/strong><\/a> and policies the league put in place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SEC has a policy regarding it,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cSo, there is a policy in place that was implemented by the commissioner relative to sportsmanship and if there was any faking of injuries in a deliberate action, the SEC would take action on that. I can leave that up to the SEC and let them evaluate that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ole Miss and LSU kickoff at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday and will air on ABC.<\/p>\n
