Jimbo Fisher<\/a><\/strong> is taking some time away from college football after being let-go by Texas A&M<\/a><\/strong> last season, but that doesn\u2019t mean he isn\u2019t opinionated regarding the issues plaguing today\u2019s game. <\/p>\n

During an interview with College Sports on SiriusXM<\/a><\/em>, Fisher elaborated<\/a> on his love for college football, but he pointed out some of the top reasons why the sport is in trouble, specifically singling-out tampering, and the need for a commissioner and revenue sharing. It\u2019s evident Fisher believes the game needs to evolve moving forward. <\/p>\n

\u201cCollege football is \u2014 I complain about it, it\u2019s still the greatest game. As much as I love NFL, and I\u2019m crazy about it, and I respect it, but college football, man, you don\u2019t know \u2014 18, 22 teams, you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re going to get. I mean, it\u2019s still so \u2014 I love college basketball, all those things, I love all college sports, but college football man, we need a commissioner,\u201d Fisher stated<\/a>. \u201cWe need revenue sharing. We need a salary cap, for all schools, and if you\u2019re caught \u2014 and the other part of this, the tampering that other schools do with players, is utterly ridiculous. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the big schools are going and getting players constantly from other schools, and it\u2019s being done illegally. Those guys are developing players, and all of a sudden their guys, you know, that team shouldn\u2019t have an advantage, financially, to be able to take care of a guy that another school doesn\u2019t, and it\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Fisher\u2019s Texas A&M teams, for right or wrong, became the poster child for what you can do with NIL during his time in College Station after being called out by multiple rival coaches, the former Aggies leader continued to pan the way it\u2019s changed the game, and how it\u2019s made cheating more prevalent throughout college football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had multiple discussions with players I\u2019ve had, teams calling them and offering money. \u2018I\u2019ve got NIL, I\u2019ve got this offer here, I\u2019ve got this,\u2019 and you\u2019ve got to sit down with them, their parents and go through it all. Power 4, within our own league, with the things that go on,\u201d Fisher added<\/a>. \u201cI thought, really, when NIL came in, we thought it would be good, because some of this \u2014 there were teams that were doing NIL before NIL was popular, okay? \u2026 I thought NIL would at least make it fair, take the cheating out of ball. It\u2019s made it worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen when Jimbo Fisher will return to college football, but it\u2019s obvious he believes the sport needs to evolve, and it\u2019s tough to argue with his sentiment. Time will tell if some new guidelines are developed and put into place, but NIL and tampering issues won\u2019t be going away unless they become a reality. <\/p>\n
