Virginia Tech<\/a><\/strong> wide receiver Stephen Gosnell<\/a><\/strong> is going after the ACC Conference for the controversial call on the Hail Mary that ended the Hokies\u2019 upset bid against Miami<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Temporality on Friday evening, it looked like\u00a0Gosnell and the Hokies pulled off a miracle, as\u00a0Kyron Drones<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0threw up the last-second pass. However, the officials\u00a0overturned the call<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and deemed it incomplete. <\/p>\n

Drones\u2019 pass went into a group of Hokies and Hurricanes players, and the officials ruled\u00a0Da\u2019Quon Felton<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0came down with it. They then went to the replay center for a lengthy review before overturning the call. That meant it was an incomplete pass, giving Miami its fifth straight win to start the season.<\/p>\n

Evidently, the overturn wasn\u2019t something Virginia Tech players were too smitten with. Gosnell went straight to social media to try and stick up for his teammates, directing his anger towards the conference and insinuating there was some foul play at work.<\/p>\n

What Gosnell means by consequences remains to be seen, but it\u2019s easy to see why Virginia Tech is disappointed with Friday\u2019s loss. Many will say it never should\u2019ve came down to a Hail Mary when the Hokies were winning throughout the night, but it still stings for the team that took the loss. <\/p>\n

Regardless, Friday night\u2019s matchup saw plenty of big-time momentum swings as Virginia Tech aimed to pull off the Top-10 upset against Miami. The biggest, though, came on a key decision from\u00a0Hokies head coach Brent Pry<\/a><\/strong> that\u00a0helped shift the momentum back in the Hurricanes\u2019 favor.<\/p>\n

In the third quarter, the Hokies faked a field goal and were stopped short \u2013 giving the Hurricanes the ball back with 5:50 left in the period. They turned it into a touchdown drive and got that much closer to taking control right back.<\/p>\n

Virginia Tech scored another touchdown to make it a 34-24 game, but Miami didn\u2019t back down. The Hurricanes put together back-to-back touchdown drives to take a 38-34 advantage as Virginia Tech got the ball back with 1:57 to play. Drones led the Hokies down the field and threw up the Hail Mary with three seconds to go.<\/p>\n

However, Miami did just enough to help it fall incomplete. That meant the Hurricanes avoided the upset and improved to 5-0 on the season. It\u2019s easy to see why the Hokies and their players are taking the loss so hard, and we\u2019ll see if there\u2019s any consequences, like Stephen Gosnell is clamoring for.<\/p>\n
