The game came down to the wire, with the referees ultimately overturning a Virginia Tech Hail Mary to give the Hurricanes the win. After the game, Miami QB Cam Ward<\/a><\/strong> didn\u2019t hesitate to take to social media.<\/p>\n

In the win, Cam Ward completed 24-of-his-38 pass attempts for 348 passing yards and four touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. It\u2019s only the latest standout performance for the Heisman Trophy candidate.<\/p>\n

Ward\u2019s choice of emojis in his post mimics his famous touchdown celebration. After the senior QB finds the end zone, he\u2019ll often cover his face with one hand while waving his other hand in front of him. The post is salt in the wound for Virginia Tech fans, who took issue with the game\u2019s controversial ending.<\/p>\n

With three seconds left in the game, Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones<\/a><\/strong> launched a 30-yard bomb to the back of the end zone. It was mayhem as numerous Virginia Tech and Miami players collided, each reaching for the descending ball.<\/p>\n

Miraculously, Virginia Tech wide receiver Da\u2019Quan Felton<\/a><\/strong> came down with the Hail Mary. However, after nearly 10 minutes of deliberation, the referees ruled a Miami player making contact with the ball was out of bounds, causing the catch to be incomplete.<\/p>\n

Other reactions to the head-turning final play<\/h2>\n

Virginia Tech fans weren\u2019t the only ones who didn\u2019t agree with the referees\u2019 decision. ESPN analyst Andre Ware believed the call shouldn\u2019t have been overturned and sympathized with the Hokies faithful.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of conversations about that because I just don\u2019t know where you see it on the replay to reverse the call on the field,\u201d Ware said. \u201cAnd had it been called incomplete, see it that way. I just thought the ruling \u2013 whatever was called on the field should stand. That\u2019s tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the postgame press conference, Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry<\/a><\/strong> claimed the referees did not explain their decision to him. Further, he expressed the anguish the team was feeling after coming so close to pulling off the Top-10 upset.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way the game ended, I hope they got that call right,\u201d\u00a0Pry said in his opening statement<\/a>. \u201cTo take that \u2013 to overturn it and take it from our kids, our coaches, our fans, I hope they got that right.\u201d<\/p>\n
