Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones<\/strong> gave an update on running back Dalvin Cook<\/a><\/strong> ahead of the Thursday Night Football<\/em> game against the New York Giants. While appearing on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said he doesn\u2019t expect Cook to play in the NFC East matchup. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think this is the time that you have any real serious roster adjustments in at that particular time, so I don\u2019t think so because of the short week for sure,\u201d Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN.<\/a> <\/p>\n

The Cowboys signed Cook to their practice squad<\/a> on Aug. 28. He joined Dallas after spending nearly all of the 2023 season with the New York Jets where he rushed for 214 yards on 67 carries. Cook was a member of the Minnesota Vikings from 2017 to 2022 and was selected to the Pro Bowl four times. <\/p>\n

Before signing with the Cowboys, Cook joined the Baltimore Ravens on January 4 to be part of their practice squad. He was on the active roster on January 18 and recorded 23 rushing yards in the playoff game against the Houston Texans. <\/p>\n

After signing with the Cowboys, Cook talked about working his way to the active roster. \u201cJust keep your head down, no matter what,\u201d Cook said, per Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com<\/a>. \u201cNo matter the circumstance, you still have to work hard, because I stuck to my routine throughout the season and then when I got to Baltimore, I was ready to go. I was ready to get the ball however times they needed me to, but it\u2019s just unfortunate that I didn\u2019t get it that much, but I was ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cook, 29, also talked about performing on the field as he gets older. \u201cWhat I can tell you, man: in this league, running backs, we take our bodies through so much,\u201d Cook said. \u201cBut it\u2019s a point where you\u2019ve got to know, alright, I\u2019m getting up to a certain age, I\u2019ve got to start upping the stuff off the field. As for me, I just picked up a certain routine and I just ran with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
