Providence Day got an in-depth look at the program and enjoyed his time in Ann Arbor.

“I would say some of the biggest highlights were getting to see glimpses of how I would fit into the offense and seeing how Coach (Ron) Bellamy worked with the receivers,” Shipp said. “I also got to spend more time around the coaches and some of the players, too.”

Shipp had been to Michigan on multiple occasions in the past with teammates and U-M commits Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin. However, this trip marked his first solo trip to Ann Arbor.

Michigan made sure Shipp felt like a priority and gave him more individual attention.

“I would say it helped a little bit,” Shipp said. “You can make anything fun when you are with two of your best friends. Being able to have the same fun without them there shows Michigan is fun and it will be even more fun with them there. They’ve been on me really heavy.”

Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has been leading the way in Shipp’s recruitment for more than a year and was by his side almost the entire visit.

“Everything went perfect with him,” Shipp said. “That’s my guy. That’s someone you want to keep in touch with not just with football. I love the way he carries himself, the way he talks to his wife, the way he handles his kids and everything like that. He’s a good role model to have in life.

“We hung out and watched more film. We’ve always had a great relationship. We’re very close. I just talked to him again yesterday. We talk all the time. It was just a great time spending time with him on the visit.”

Aside from connecting on a personal level, Bellamy and Shipp watched film together and talked scheme fit.

“Everybody knows they are a run heavy team,” Shipp said. “But they want to implement some new things to get them over the hump and get into that natty. I can definitely help them do that. (Bellamy) knows I can make those catches in traffic and take the top off whenever.”

Shipp also had a chance to spend more time with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“It’s always great meeting with someone that has as much history as he has,” Shipp said. “He’s accomplished so much. My dad, my brother and my cousin got to meet him for the first time. It was just a cool experience.”

Official visit hosts are usually upperclassmen.

However, Michigan entrusted freshman wide out Fredrick Moore with the responsibility of hosting Shipp. Moore and several members of Michigan’s 2023 recruiting class were actively involved throughout the weekend.

“Fred was my official host, but I was also with Semaj Morgan, Amir (Herring), Cam Calhoun and Kendrick (Bell)” Shipp said. “I knew Semaj and Fred from 7v7. Getting to meet the other guys for the first time was great. It was all cool with them.”

Along with meeting with the staff and the players, Shipp said he enjoyed two presentations in particular.

“I would say the presentations that really moved the needle for me and my family were the nutrition and strength and conditioning,” Shipp said. “Coach Herb (Ben Herbert) is amazing. He’s definitely a deal breaker. He takes his craft very seriously. He knows exactly what to do and the ins and outs of everything.”

So where does Michigan stand coming out of the visit?

“They are definitely high on the list for sure,” Shipp said. “That’s a nice, prestigious program. They do everything right. Of course, they are a great championship football program, but they also have great connections outside of football. They have a great education. I know that’s somewhere I’ll be safe and comfortable at.”

Shipp will make an official visit to NC State this weekend. He has nothing set in stone for June 16 but will finish out the month with an official visit to North Carolina on June 23. Shipp is looking to make his final decision at some point before his senior season.

At 6-foot-2, 183 pounds, Shipp is ranked as the No. 63 wide receiver and No. 380 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

The post Four-star WR Jordan Shipp goes in-depth on official visit to Michigan appeared first on On3.

Michigan hosted a trio of official visitors over the weekend, including top wide receiver target…

[1

post-7063","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
