Oklahoma<\/a><\/strong> hosts Tennessee<\/a><\/strong> in a marquee SEC showdown \u2014\u00a0the first ever for the Sooners in the league. And more than that, it also marks the return of Josh Heupel<\/a><\/strong> to Norman as the Volunteers head coach.<\/p>\n

Along with the former Oklahoma national championship-winning quarterback and offensive coordinator making his return, ESPN\u2019s College GameDay will be on hand for the ranked showdown between undefeated teams. The big news for the Sooners hinges around wideout Nic Anderson<\/a><\/strong>, who has yet to feature so far in three games this season due to an injury. It was hinted that he could make his return this weekend, and his status is looking good with his inclusion as \u201cprobable\u201d on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Anderson practiced last week and head coach Brent Venables<\/a><\/strong> was \u201chopeful\u201d about his status<\/a><\/strong>, but Anderson did not play on Saturday. Even still, his quarterback said the wideout keeps teasing a potential return.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking to him about it today,\u201d Jackson Arnold said Tuesday<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cYou know, he\u2019s been teasing me for the past couple of weeks. He\u2019s like, \u2018You know, I might play this Saturday?\u2019 and then he hasn\u2019t played for the past three weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tennessee does have as many injuries of note, and the focus around the game has centered on Heupel\u2019s return to Norman.<\/p>\n

In that regard, the Volunteers head coach has had a good sense of humor<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShould be a great crowd,\u201d Heupel said, wryly. \u201cIt\u2019s a passionate fan base. I\u2019m expecting them to be extremely quiet for us, out of respect to me and our program, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joking aside, Heupel did take a moment to reflect on his return<\/a><\/strong> to a place where so much of his current success was seeded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be unique,\u201d Heupel said. \u201cI have teammates and friends back there. They hit me up a little bit early. They were starting last week already. It will be unique going back into that stadium. It\u2019s going to be a (different) viewpoint. I am not sure I spent a day on the opposing sideline inside the stadium \u2014 not even for scrimmage. It will be different. But it is one that I am really looking forward to.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many people have been a huge part of my journey that I get a chance to go back and, hopefully, get a chance to say hi to a bunch of them. It starts with teammates. It\u2019s coaches that I had. It\u2019s a lot of coaches that I coached with. There\u2019s lot of personnel that are still there. Guys that I coached. Guy that was in my wedding. There\u2019s a lot of people back there that I\u2019m familiar with and have a lot of respect for.\u201d<\/p>\n
