Steve Spurrier<\/a> went 20-3 all-time in his career in the Southeastern Conference<\/a> against Kentucky<\/a><\/strong>. Now, one of his former programs in South Carolina<\/a><\/strong> is coming off another major win over them last weekend.<\/p>\n

Spurrier discussed if the 31-6 outcome between the two last weekend was more about the Gamecocks or the Wildcats on \u2018Another Dooley Noted Podcast\u2019<\/a> this week. He felt it was a little of both but definitely had plenty to do with the \u201cembarrassing\u201d outing by UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can tell South Carolina was much better,\u201d said Spurrier. \u201cMentally, physically, and everything else \u2013 prepared to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, Kentucky had a bad game coaching plan and everything,\u201d Spurrier said. \u201cIt was embarrassing, I think, for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

To him, playing it in the bluegrass clearly didn\u2019t have much impact either for Kentucky.<\/p>\n

\u201cKentucky at home? That didn\u2019t mean anything,\u201d said Spurrier.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats were awful offensively at the center of the 25-point loss. They posted just 183 yards of offense, including just 44 in the pass game at 35.3% completion. Their quarterbacks also threw a pair of interceptions while the unit fumbled the ball four times, albeit without losing one. That\u2019s before their offensive line<\/a> comes into it with five sacks allowed as the Gamecocks had 11 tackles for loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The defense also struggled in key spots that could have turned the game but only allowed the lead to grow.<\/p>\n

The embarrassment for Kentucky has been much discussed over the last week. That includes these comments from Spurrier considering what the Gamecocks did to them to open conference play.<\/p>\n

Herbstreit confirms Kentucky was a \u2018lock\u2019 to host College GameDay<\/h2>\n

Kentucky\u00a0cost themselves a lot with\u00a0their 25-point loss to<\/a>\u00a0South Carolina\u00a0last weekend. That includes the chance of being the feature location for ESPN\u2019s College GameDay on Saturday.<\/p>\n

In a thread of tweets about this week\u2019s location of Columbia for\u00a0No. 16<\/a>\u00a0LSU<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at South Carolina, Kirk Herbstreit explained that he and Chris Fowler would have originally been calling\u00a0No. 1<\/a>\u00a0Georgia<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at Kentucky<\/a>\u00a0this weekend. However,\u00a0since they \u201cspit the bit\u201d<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0their 31-6 defeat<\/a>\u00a0to the Gamecocks,\u00a0the show pivoted<\/a>\u00a0to the other conference game at the noon kickoff slot.<\/p>\n

Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy, and Molly McGrath will now call\u00a0\u2018Dawgs vs. \u2018Cats<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0ABC and ESPN+<\/a> instead. That\u2019s the exact same broadcast team that called their loss to the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n

Kentucky hasn\u2019t hosted College GameDay in 17 seasons since back in 2007. That stretch will now continue on past this weekend with the Wildcats giving that opportunity up.<\/p>\n
