The SEC mandated its teams to release their\u00a0injury reports<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in the week leading up to a game this season. On Friday,\u00a0Kentucky<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0South Carolina<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0dropped their respective reports ahead of their Saturday showdown.<\/p>\n

Both teams are battling injuries, especially the Wildcats. However, neither team will take the field with any uncertainty. Both programs won their Week 1 matchups, with South Carolina defeating\u00a0Old Dominion<\/a><\/strong>\u00a023-19 and Kentucky downing\u00a0Southern Miss<\/a><\/strong>\u00a031-0.<\/p>\n

Offensive lineman Jakai Moore is one of only two players listed as out for South Carolina. Gamecocks head coach\u00a0Shane Beamer<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0previously indicated Moore may be unavailable for an extended period. As for Emory Floyd, Beamer stated the DB\u2019s reason for absence isn\u2019t long-term.<\/p>\n

Kentucky\u2019s injury report is more dire. Running back Chip Trayanum, who transferred to Kentucky from\u00a0Ohio State<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0this offseason, suffered a broken hand during a preseason practice. Trayanum also missed Kentucky\u2019s Week 1 victory but could potentially return in the Wildcats\u2019 Week 3 showdown against\u00a0Georgia<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kentucky will also miss offensive lineman Courtland Ford against the Gamecocks. Ford did not play in Week 1, as well. Ford was expected to play a significant role in UK\u2019s trenches this season, with\u00a0Jeremy Flax<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0off to the NFL. Last week, Stoops revealed Ford\u2019s injury will keep him sidelined for an extended time.<\/p>\n

South Carolina has won the last two meetings between the two programs after Kentucky went on a streak of winning seven of eight matchups in the series between 2014 and 2021.<\/p>\n

Kentucky will look to retake the upper ground in the series when the two teams clash inside Kroger Field this weekend. Kickoff in both teams\u2019 SEC opener is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and will air live on ABC and ESPN+.<\/p>\n
