Nick Saban<\/a> has been a very successful addition thus far on the desk of College GameDay<\/a>. It has been an adjustment for him, though, to become a new part of their team on Saturdays.<\/p>\n

Saban<\/a> spoke about his time to this point through two appearances on GameDay<\/a> in Dublin<\/a> and College Station during \u2018The Pat McAfee Show\u2019<\/a> on Friday from Ann Arbor. He said he still feels like a new member, especially with what he\u2019s still learning about being in the media. However, he\u2019s being as aware as he can to be a welcome part of the kickoff to each weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, you know, I\u2019m very much the rookie. Learning the ropes,\u201d said Saban. \u201cNot in terms of having information that you want to put out there but when to say it, how to say it. How to respect the people around you, how to have the conversation. How to fit with everybody because we\u2019re a team. On every team, you have to be able to fit into your role on that team, which I\u2019m really conscious about trying to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, and Desmond Howard had already added a new seat last year with McAfee. They\u2019re now including their second in as many years with Saban following his retirement from coaching in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, McAfee is, according to Saban, becoming a brace for him to lean on during the show. They couldn\u2019t be more opposite in demeanor<\/a> but his energy allows Saban to have the time to calm himself<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve made it easier for me, though,\u201d said Saban as he looked to McAfee. \u201cI mean sitting by you makes it easier for me because I\u2019m less anxious.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are every aggressive in whatever we\u2019re talking about or whatever we\u2019re doing,\u201d Saban said as they laughed. \u201cI didn\u2019t know exactly what word to use there.\u201d<\/p>\n

With how he has contributed<\/a>, this is the first of hopefully what are many seasons for Saban on College GameDay. It\u2019ll only get better by then too as he further adapts to retired life<\/a> while commenting about what\u2019s happening on the field rather than coaching a team on it.<\/p>\n
