Colorado<\/a><\/strong> wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s father was incarcerated on multiple\u00a0drug-related charges<\/a>, stemming from an incident on November 2, 2021.\u00a0Less than a month before Colorado\u2019s season opener, the sentencing for these charges was finalized.<\/p>\n

Although Jimmy Horn Jr.\u2019s father wasn\u2019t able to cheer him on from the stands, the senior wideout still put on a show. In Colorado\u2019s 31-26 win over North Dakota State<\/a><\/strong>, Horn erupted for a career-high 198 receiving yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Horn pulled back the curtain on his last conversation with his father before his incarceration.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was able to talk to him,\u201d Horn said<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cThat was my last time talking to him before \u2014 so you just got to go even harder, you feel me? And it just felt good to talk to him. That just pushes me even more. It\u2019s a lot of adversity that go on through life.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just got to keep thriving and pushing through it. Like that game, man, that was a career-high game for me. And I ain\u2019t going to let that get to me. I\u2019m gonna just keep going, keep grinding. I\u2019m hungry for real.\u201d<\/p>\n

After spending two seasons at South Florida<\/a><\/strong>, Horn transferred to Colorado ahead of the 2023 campaign. He made an instant impact for the Buffaloes, tallying 58 receptions for 567 receiving yards and six touchdowns, the most on the team.<\/p>\n

Deion Sanders supports Jimmy Horn Jr. through difficulty<\/h2>\n

He was one of only two players on the roster to start and play in every game in 2023. Now, Horn is off to an even better start this season. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders<\/a><\/strong> is largely to thank. Sanders has stood by Horn\u2019s side through all of the off-field turmoil.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy\u2019s gonna give you every darn thing he has and with the burden that he has on his shoulders; I mean, Jimmy\u2019s playing for pop, man,\u201d Sanders said after the win against NDSU. \u201cJimmy just came back from court seeing his father\u2019s sentence, man. He\u2019s gonna turn around and flip it and come out there and get you that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Horn hasn\u2019t taken Sanders\u2019 kindness for granted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat means a lot, man. He\u2019s just another good father figure, you feel me?\u201d Horn said of Sanders. \u201cSo that\u2019s a lot to me. That means a lot to me just to have him have my back, and then the people around too, like the coaching staff.\u201d<\/p>\n
